[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1550316] Re: kernel 4.2.0-30 does not boot
hi, i tried the kernels, results were the same. at monday after another update, it even broke the old working kernel so I went ahead reinstalling the whole system...after several failed attempts to fix initramfs ( i got the feeling it was something to do with with that and updates so i tried to fix it with update-initramfs) well, long story short, works now. i needed a working system... so i kind of gave up. sorry about that. but, I guess it's not a bug in kernel, but more like something in ubuntu and it's update progress. so this can be marked solved.. i think. damn. .b -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1550316 Title: kernel 4.2.0-30 does not boot Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in linux source package in Wily: Confirmed Bug description: After recent dist-upgrade that brought linux-image-4.2.0-30 the system does not boot. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1550316] Re: kernel 4.2.0-30 does not boot
I'd like to perform a kernel bisect to figure out which commit caused this regression. We need to identify the earliest kernel that did not exhibit the bug and the first kernel that did exhibit the bug. Can you test the following kernels and post back? http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.2.8-ckt1-wily/ http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.2.8-ckt2-wily/ http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.2.8-ckt3-wily/ You don't have to test every kernel, just up until the first kernel that has this bug.
