[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1570899] Re: Suspend problem with kernel 4.4

2016-06-16 Thread Michal Bultrowicz
Yesterday I got an automatic update of kernel to 4.4.0.24 - still can't
suspend properly.

My system is Lenovo Z51 with Kubuntu (16.04, of course).
The problem disappears after switching to kernel 4.4.8.

I have just tried the Linux Mint 18 Cinammon 64 bit beta version and the
problem exists there too.

Moving upstream.

Please provide dmesg output after pressing the sleep button.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1570899] Re: Suspend problem with kernel 4.4

2016-04-18 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.6 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1570899] Re: Suspend problem with kernel 4.4

2016-04-18 Thread GM
Sorry for not replying those days.

Joseph I am not sure I can test this kernel because I am noob in doing
anything with linux and this is also my working laptop so I can't mess
it up.

After I put the computer to suspend, the screen closes but the system is
still working (the fans never go to sleep). However it is not possible
to wake the computer up (the computer sceen stays black no matter what
you press). So I can't type a command in the terminal after waking the
computer (technicaly it never went into suspension).

So please give me some information on which log files to send you after
I reboot my computer from the power buttor after a failed suspension. I
will switch kernels tonight again.

Thank you

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1570899] Re: Suspend problem with kernel 4.4

2016-04-20 Thread petersaints
@GM
I have a different laptop (a SAMSUNG ATIV Book 8 / Model: NP870Z5E-X01PT) but
I'm experiencing the exact same issues, as reported here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1570820

It's possible that the underlying problem is the same.

I'd like to mention that the 4.4.6, upon which the current Ubuntu 16.04
official kernel is based, works fine for me. If it also works fine for
you, it may be a sign that the bug is not upstream but due to some extra
patching done to the official kernels. You can get here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.6-wily/
