[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1608526] Re: Asus NJ551JM screen brightness fn keys not working unless acpi_osi= kernel argument is set
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.7 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1608526] Re: Asus NJ551JM screen brightness fn keys not working unless acpi_osi= kernel argument is set
When I bought this laptop I installed 14.04 on it, so there was no upgrade problem. It's the same after upgrade to 16.04. OK I'll check if keys works with upstream kernel and without that extra argument. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1608526 Title: Asus NJ551JM screen brightness fn keys not working unless acpi_osi= kernel argument is set Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Hi, I've found solution for screen brightness keys issue in ask ubuntu [1], which is simply to add "acpi_osi=" kernel argument. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1608526] Re: Asus NJ551JM screen brightness fn keys not working unless acpi_osi= kernel argument is set
I've booted 4.7 without acpi walkaround, and fn keys still *did not work*: vincas@vinco:~$ cat /proc/cmdline BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.7.0-040700-generic root=UUID=e2407f5a-3411-4b70-a245-7c128267680f ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 Then, added same acpi_osi=: cat /proc/cmdline BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.7.0-040700-generic root=UUID=e2407f5a-3411-4b70-a245-7c128267680f ro quiet splash acpi_osi= vt.handoff=7 and then it started working as with 4.4.
