Glad it worked for you. For anyone who has linux-stable on git (like me), if your kernel version lacks this, it's a matter of git cherry-pick 339ee3fcbdab736adbc30b7a3d675005c61a2a40 and there you go. FN keys are recognized by Linux Mint 18.2 and Ubuntu 16.04 but pressing them have no effect. Kernels from 4.10 to 4.14 are the same on that regard.
