Title:
My Inspiron-1420 shuts down when waking from Suspended Mode.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Hello,

I installed Ubuntu Budgie - amd64 on my Inspiron 1420. When I close
the lid the Notebook (apparently) goes into suspend mode. Instead of
starting-up upon opening the lid, the notebook shuts down. I couldn't
find the settings for the lid in the settings menu.

I can think of two possible reasons (not necessarily true):

  1) My HDD is password protected. When I open my notebook it asks for
HD password and then takes to the boot menu.

  2) I have two operating systems (Dual Boot) installed on my Notebook:
Windows 10 developer edition and Ubuntu Budgie.

  Please look into this.

  Thanks,
  Sakib.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1770840] Re: My Inspiron-1420 shuts down when waking from Suspended Mode.

2018-06-04 Thread Sakib
The bug seems to be fixed. I closed the lid a couple of times which
forced the notebook into sleep mode. Upon opening the lid, the
notebook booted to the lock screen.

Thanks,
Sakib.

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1770840] Re: My Inspiron-1420 shuts down when waking from Suspended Mode.

2018-05-15 Thread Sakib
Hello,

The issue happened right from the installation of Ubuntu budgie amd 64
version. I followed your instructions received in the previous email.

Prior to the Update, I had: Linux sa-i1420 *4.15.0-20-generic* #21-Ubuntu
SMP Tue Apr 24 06:16:15 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux (command
used: *uname -a*).

I downloaded the 4.17 rc from the link:

4.17.0-041700rc5_4.17.0-041700rc5.201805132030_all.deb*

available at *http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.17-rc5/
*

and installed using Software. The installation was successful.

Upon restarting the PC, I chose: Advanced options. However, Only two
options were there:: Ubuntu 4.15 generic and Ubuntu 4.15 generic recovery.

Any suggestions as to where I am going wrong?

Thanks,

Best,
Sakib.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1770840] Re: My Inspiron-1420 shuts down when waking from Suspended Mode.

2018-05-14 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
My Inspiron-1420 shuts down when waking from Suspended Mode.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

  Thanks,
  Sakib.
