[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1832087] Re: Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260

2019-07-05 Thread You-Sheng Yang
I was testing on a Dell Precision 7530 with Ubuntu Disco, which has
Intel Wireless-AC 9260 160MHz, REV=0x324 (8086:2526 subsystem 8086:4010,
differs from yours), with wifi fw iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-43.ucode
(same with yours), bt fw ibt-18-16-1.sfi REL0420 (newer than yours) from
linux-firmware version 1.178:

  * v5.2-rc7 mainline:
  * v5.2-rc6 mainline:
  * v5.2-rc5 mainline:
  * v5.2-rc4 mainline:
  * v5.2-rc3 mainline: (touchpad may cause kernel hard lockup)
  * v5.2-rc2 mainline:
  * v5.2-rc1 mainline:
  * v5.1 mainline:
  * 5.0.0-1010-oem-osp1:
  * 5.0.0-16-generic:
  * 5.0.0-15-generic:

WiFi/Bluetooth just works with all above kernel versions.

So far the conclusion we may have should be:

* For bluetooth, please check bug 1835449, which would update bluetooth
firmware to REL0329, and it should be working all the time for you,

* For wifi, since the firmware blob is already up to date, I guess we'll
need a device of the same model to be able to diagnose more.

** Summary changed:

- Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260
+ Intel WIRELESS-AC 9260 Wi-Fi doesn't work on kernel > 5.0.0-16

** Summary changed:

- Intel WIRELESS-AC 9260 Wi-Fi doesn't work on kernel > 5.0.0-16
+ Intel WIRELESS-AC 9260 (2526:0010) Wi-Fi doesn't work on kernel > 5.0.0-16

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1832087] Re: Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260

2019-07-04 Thread You-Sheng Yang
@phil995511, for iwlwifi, could you have a try with backport-iwlwifi-
dkms from https://code.launchpad.net/~canonical-hwe-team/+archive/ubuntu
/pc-oem-dkms ? This should be working on 4.x/5.x kernels you have.
Please make sure the corresponding dkms module has being compiled and
installed with `dkms status` command. If not, please do `sudo dkms
install backport-iwlwifi/7858 -k $(uname -r)` to (re-)install it and
paste error logs and dmesg if any thing wrong.

For bluetooth, I need you to completely power off your laptop and
capture the dmesg log when booted at the first time. This will trigger
bluetooth driver to try reloading bluetooth firmware, and then we will
be able to know what's missing.

PPS

The almost daily updates of Ubuntu are also a gene for the user versus a
pure Debian system that only proposes to fix security flaws when
necessary.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1832087] Re: Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260

2019-06-18 Thread Philippe
No, 5.2 rc4 overheats my CPU and does not run my fans. I will not re-
test this kernel.

You play too much to the sorcerer's apprentices.

I do not want stability and functionality, not always problems, that's
why my workstation is under Debian 9.x now.

To be honest with you, I wait for the release of Debian 10 to migrate my
laptop too.

My V300 Epson scanner not worked on Ubuntu fom +/- 18 months after
changes from your part in kernel. You've changed where the proprietary
drivers are installed and you have not anticipated/corrected this
problem creating aliases or coming back. The idea of change the Linux
Kernel in this way in Ubuntu is very not serious on my eyes...

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1832087] Re: Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260

2019-06-11 Thread Philippe
Yes the problem is present on kernel 5.0.0-15 => bluetooth does not
work, wifi is ok.

kernel 5.0.0-16 => bluetooth works by intermitance, wifi is ok.

kernel 5.2 => nothing works

I dont now is my problem of temperature is in relation with powertop
software (by Intel, to get low cpu temperature and low fan ventilation)
in version 2.9 ?? I start automatically this software on my laptop at
system boot by cron.d fonction.

The last version of powertop is 2.10 but is it not disponible on the
software repertory. If you add powertop v.2.10, I'm ok to test it with
kernels 5.0.0-15 & 5.0-16 and to try to resolve the problem of
overheating.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1832087] Re: Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260

2019-06-11 Thread Philippe
The problem persists with the v5.2-rc4 kernel. The bluetooth does not
work and I could not activate the wifi either, it's even worse... It is
even more serious than with the kernel 5.0.0-16 with which bluetooth
works from time to time, but not often. Wifi is all ready ok on kernel
5.0.0-16.

With 5.2-rc4 kernel the apparent management of the CPU temperature is
catastrophic, my software indicated 98 ° C and the fans did not turn on
;(

Unless it's a bug with incorrect temperature display, kernel 5.2 RC4 is
dangerous for my laptop...

Please in the future do not ask me to test a kernel that seems to
potentially damage my laptop.

Regards.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1832087] Re: Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260

2019-06-10 Thread Anthony Wong
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v5.2-rc4 kernel[1].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1832087] Re: Bluetooth not work on INTEL WIRELESS-AC 9260

2019-06-08 Thread Philippe
Strange problem, when I reinstall the kernel 5.0.0-16 it works now.

When I turn on and off the wifi several times, sometimes the bluetooth
does not work anymore.

The problem only seems partially solved.
