[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1884351] Re: Firmware bug - ACPI

pci=nomsi. Now system boots without acpi=off and everything seems fine,
with latest kernel, and also with previous.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1884351] Re: Firmware bug - ACPI

2020-06-22 Thread Vladimir Starcevic
And I can also confirm that it is working on previous kernel, I have
tried with 5.4.0.26, because that is only option that I can choose (boot
Advanced mode). Working without acpi=off, also I can turn off and
restart PC successfully.

2020-06-22 Thread Vladimir Starcevic
With "initcall_debug earlycon=efifb" and without acpi=off this is what happens:
It boots up to user login screen, everything seems to be ok, but when you enter
password empty screen is shown and nothing happens. Image before login screen
attached.

** Attachment added: "Booting with initcall_debug earlycon=efifb and without
acpi=off quiet splasy"

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1884351] Re: Firmware bug - ACPI

2020-06-22 Thread uitrixx
I seem to have similar problem.
The system hangs on displaying my laptop's branding (legion) and nothing
happens.
On clicking the shutdown button it hangs on gpu-manager and nvidia-persiste
blocking.

Everything works fine on 5.4.0-33-generic kernel.

Please let me know what info and from which logs can I provide to help
with this ticket.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1884351] Re: Firmware bug - ACPI

2020-06-21 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Hi, we need to have more information when the problem occurs. That is,
could you specify more about "can't boot without acpi=off"? At what
stage does it hang? What's the contents of the screen at the moment?
What would happen if yiu boot with "initcall_debug earlycon=efifb" (and
don't add acpi=off)?
