The bug (new behavior) has been introduced somewhere in the 5.10 kernel series (indirectly?) and got fixed for 5.12 and 5.13. However, no backport for 5.11 (Ubuntu 21.04) exists. Strangely the problem persists as of 5.11.0.22.23.
