*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1973167 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973167 I can confirm that for my work-provided Dell XPS-15-9570 (running KUbuntu 18.04), kernel 4.15.0-177 results in the following problems: 1. It takes forever (~5 minutes) to boot. 2. The WiFi adapter is unclaimed, and no WiFi networks are available. 3. I am unable to manually claim the WiFi adapter (via modprobe, etc.) In short, 4.15.0-177 is unusable. I had to revert to 4.15.0-176. Further, today I tried to update to 4.15.0-187, hoping that this problem had been fixed. Unfortunately, it hasn't been. Kernel 4.15.0-187 is also completely unusable for me. After all, I am lucky: my Dell Latitude 5480 succeeds sometimes to start XUbuntu 18.04.6 LTS normally, but often freezes on boot because "A start job is running for ..." (several messages of this type), both with linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic and linux-image-4.15.0-180-generic, while everything goes fine with linux-image-4.15.0-166-generic (which I installed back). Same experience as above since update to 4.15.0-177 on Ubuntu 18.04.6 a couple of days ago. Running Asus UA430 w/ 8GB Ram and Intel I5. Pressing F2 revealed excessive boot time seems related to UFW. Takes about 3 min to process UFW - receive numerous stream of message "Start job running Uncomplicated Firewall" Several of these followed by several other processes finishing with OK, then more uncomplicated firewall messages. Total UFW process time 3 minutes. Eventually displays Login Screen. Reverting back to 4.15.0-176 resolves the problem. Hello, Same issue with a Dell Latitude 5580. Device detection like disks fail randomly. Built-in keyboard, touchpad and Wifi don't work. I experience the same on my Lenovo Thinkpad (Intel® Xeon(R) E-2176M CPU @ 2.70GHz × 12 ) with ubuntu 18.04 and the *-177 kernel. No wireless, no external monitor detected. Happened after a hard reset.
