Title:
  WiFi not roaming to a much stronger/faster AP

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in wpasupplicant package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I have spotty WiFi reception around the house, and I've noticed that
  once I roam to a 2.4GHz because I've moved out of range, coming back
  I'm stuck at it with very low signal despite there being much more
  powerful and faster BSSIDs around.

  `nmcli d wifi` reports:

  $ nmcli d wifi
  IN-USE BSSID SSID MODE CHAN RATESIGNAL
BARS  SECURITY
  74:83:C2:19:7E:BA  wifi   Infra  1 130 Mbit/s  82

  *   74:83:C2:19:7E:BB  wifi   Infra  44540 Mbit/s  55
▂▄__  WPA2
  4C:E6:76:F9:5E:AF  wifi   Infra  52130 Mbit/s  39

  If I didn't reconnect, I'd be stuck on the 4C: BSSID still.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975840] Re: WiFi not roaming to a much stronger/faster AP

2022-05-26 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
I am no wifi expert, but seems like roaming is controlled by WPA or IWD?
