[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1991704] Re: Kinetic kernels 5.19.0-18/19-generic won't boot on Intel 11th/12th gen

2022-12-07 Thread Ubuntu Kernel Bot
This bug is awaiting verification that the linux-
hwe-5.19/5.19.0-24.25~22.04.1 kernel in -proposed solves the problem.
Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the
problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-jammy' to
'verification-done-jammy'. If the problem still exists, change the tag
'verification-needed-jammy' to 'verification-failed-jammy'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

Indeed the live desktop installer fails to boot on a 12th intel cpu: I
have lots of kernel backtraces in dmesg caused by nouveau driver. The
kernel from the installer is 5.19.0-21.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1991704] Re: Kinetic kernels 5.19.0-18/19-generic won't boot on Intel 11th/12th gen

2022-10-10 Thread Alex Murray
Looking at the commits between 5.19.7 and 5.19.8 this
https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel-
test/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/mainline-
crack/commit/?h=cod/mainline/v5.19.8=c2798203315f4729bab0b917bf4c17a159abf9f8
looks suspiciously like the fix for this issue.

2022-10-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If the full range of 5.19.x upstream kernels boot successfully then this
bug may be caused by an Ubuntu customization.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1991704] Re: Kinetic kernels 5.19.0-18/19-generic won't boot on Intel 11th/12th gen

2022-10-09 Thread Dmitry Buzdyk
Got this problem on HP x360-14 with i7-1165g7.

I tried to find if problem related to Ubuntu or upstream kernel and
tested mainline builds available at https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D

Both 5.19.0 and 5.19.13 upstream builds boot successfully.
