Title:
boot issue, rollout 1.8 to Lunar or remove 1.7

Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I pulled updates very early this morning (Oct 15) and system was no
  longer booting.

Turns out linux-firmware 1.7 (Oct 9) fails to boot on RX 7900 series:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2038745

Fixed with linux-firmware 1.8 (Oct 10) and deployed to Jammy (Oct 12)
but it is Oct 15th and Lunar -updates is still serving 1.7, a broken
package that breaks boot for users??? How is this not critical?

Fixed by booting into recovery and manually applying the linux-
  firmware 1.8 deb in -proposed
