[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2046434] Re: TPM2 Problem in 6.2.0 kernel

2024-01-03 Thread renke
The error message I get is slightly different:

"
tpm_crb: probe of MSFT0101:00 failed with error 378
"

As https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2047692 was marked as duplicate of
this ticket I'll add my original comment here, too - sorry if this
breaks launchpad's rules.

6.2.0-39.40~22.04.1 includes upstream stable patchset 2023-10-10
(https://launchpad.net/bugs/2038969) with the TPM changes 'Disable RNG
for all AMD fTPMs' and 'Add a helper for checking hwrng enabled'.

This causes on some Intel devices that TPM does not work (in my case a
Gigabyte Brix GB-BSi5-1135G7).

Upstream discussed this issue in
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217804 and a fix was found:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/8f7f35e5aa6f2182eabcfa3abef4d898a48e9aa8
(already linked by ~badsmoke in an earlier comment)
