Public bug reported: Hello,
The snap packages pc-kernel from ubuntu 22 to 24 are missing firmware for bluetooth to work properly on dell laptops. The firmware are available on linux-firmware apt package meaning that both distribution medium are not aligned. pc-kernel is required to get tpm full disk encryption so no easy workaround exists. dmesg | grep firmware [ 9.281169] bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for mediatek/BT_RAM_CODE_MT7922_1_1_hdr.bin failed with error -2 [ 9.281179] Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to load firmware file (-2) [ 9.281422] Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to set up firmware (-2) ls /usr/lib/firmware/mediatek BT_RAM_CODE_MT7961_1_2_hdr.bin mt7615_cr4.bin mt7622pr2h.bin mt7663_n9_v3.bin mt7668pr2h.bin mt7915_wm.bin mt7916_wm.bin WIFI_RAM_CODE_MT7922_1.bin mt7610e.bin mt7615_n9.bin mt7650e.bin mt7663pr2h.bin mt7915_rom_patch.bin mt7916_rom_patch.bin WIFI_MT7922_patch_mcu_1_1_hdr.bin WIFI_RAM_CODE_MT7961_1.bin mt7610u.bin mt7615_rom_patch.bin mt7663_n9_rebb.bin mt7663pr2h_rebb.bin mt7915_wa.bin mt7916_wa.bin WIFI_MT7961_patch_mcu_1_2_hdr.bin mount | grep /usr/lib/firmware /run/mnt/data/var/lib/snapd/snaps/pc-kernel_1627.snap on /usr/lib/firmware type squashfs (ro,relatime, errors=continue, threads=single) /run/mnt/data/var/lib/snapd/snaps/pc-kernel_1627.snap on /run/mnt/data/usr/lib/firmware type squashfs (ro,relatime, errors=continue, threads=single) ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055248 Title: snap pc-kernel missing bluetooth firmware for dell latptops Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hello, The snap packages pc-kernel from ubuntu 22 to 24 are missing firmware for bluetooth to work properly on dell laptops.
