Some time ago they tried to get it mainline, but they refused to make the changes the reviews requested. AFAIK yaffs stores some meta data in the NAND spare area, which is a no-go. I don't know specifics, but when drbd decided to submit their code to the kernel for inclusion it took a tremendous amount of work on their part to get it into technically acceptable shape.
