Re: [Kicad-developers] Change in Library Team Leadership
Thank you all! You guys are awesome. I'm happy to hear KiCAd is continuing on and has volunteers to help it. I have mostly been observing on the sidelines and doing bug reports and feature requests in the past, but I do still follow many emails. Thank you Rene for your contributions, and thank you all. Re: [Kicad-developers] running gerbview from local build on macOS
I won't speak for Jonatan, but installing after a full build on MacOS takes significant time. In fact, if I'm changing a single file and recompiling, doing the install probably takes ~10x longer than the compile. So, for iterating quickly, it's not great. Re: [Kicad-developers] Change in Library Team Leadership
Hi Rene, I know I've already replied on the librarian mailing list but it bears repeating. Thank you for contributions to the KiCad project. Your stewardship of the library team has made a huge difference in the quality of the KiCad libraries. Best of luck with your new role. Thank you to Christian for stepping up and taking over for Rene. It is this kind of volunteerism that makes me proud of the KiCad development community. Re: [Kicad-developers] Change in Library Team Leadership
Hi Rene Thank you for the heads up. You have contributed a lot, I am not really in the loop with all the library maintenance effort, but the libraries have certainly been kicked high up on the quality and coverage lists while you have been around. I don't even dare to mention other honorable librarians, in case I forget someone :S -- But -- Thank you all for moving the libs forward. :) Nick On Wed, 26 Aug 2020 at 22:08, Adam Wolf wrote: > > Thanks for everything, Rene! Thank you Rene for all of your work these past few years! It is quite remarkable how much the libraries have grown in both quality and quantity under your guidance. [Kicad-developers] Change in Library Team Leadership
Hi all, the bad news up front, I no longer have the time to properly handle leading the library team as i am now working full time and still have my education to finish (Covid isn't much help either as it makes me lose a bit of time as i try to avoid public transport at peak hours). And now the good news. Christian Schlüter has volunteered to take over as the team leader. I personally plan to be around and help as much as i can with reviews but simply feel that i should give somebody a chance to grow who has more time on their hand. To be honest i think he already took on part of my roles as i had been absent for quite some time (partly hoping i will find more time and partly just not wanting to admit that i don't have it anymore).
