It depends on the context:
Outline can be board outline (edge cut), or footprint outline (graphic lines) 
(not always the
silkscreen)

That was my initial reaction (in the links). Someone pointed out (in another 
link) that perhaps the other "Outline" could be changed to "Silkscreen" as that 
is what they said it affected.

Hi Greg,

First, English is not my mother tongue.
Moreover, in Kicad, "Outline" "contour" and "Sketch" are translated in French 
by the same word
("contour").

However I am thinking "Outline" instead of "Sketch" is not a good idea, because 
"Outline" is already
used in menus.
"Sketch" is more something like "not filled" or "not solid" graphic lines in 
Kicad dialogs.
