Koha uses the printer capability provided by the operating system.

On most GNU/Linux systems, the printing system is provided by a software
called Cups. If Cups supports your printer, yes, Koha will use that
printer to print barcodes.

Have you contacted the CUSAT library? They use Koha.

The NUALS too uses Koha, but that is yet to go online - they are
currently in the process of shifting their campus, (from Kaloor to near
HMT) and will be go online using Koha. NUALS uses barcode. I had done the
installation for them, and frankly, was shocked to see that they use
barcodes. I was expecting couple of days struggle to get the scanner and
whatever working. Too bad ... times are changing. :-D

No, I do not provide commercial support for Koha.

[Koha] Statistic with Koha

2011-07-22 Thread schwitzd
Hi

I'm trying to create some statistics, for example I want to have the number
of the search done today, I wrote this query.
select count(time) from search_history where year(time) = year(curdate())
AND month(time) = month(curdate()) AND DAY(time) = day(curdate());

My problem is... if the user do the login in the opac and then do a search
the table search_history is updated but if the user do a search without
login nothing is written in the database.

Any idea?

[Koha] KOHA holdings/barcode problems

2011-07-22 Thread Margaret Matthews
Good morning somewhere in the world!!

I am having several problems that I hope someone can help me with. We are
running 3.02.7

I cannot run barcodes- this is due to not one of the 2600 records I have
loaded saying they have any holdings - in the past I have not had this problem
and ran barcodes for over 2000 of our 2600 records. when I search - the record
is there with all the information but no holdings, if there are no holdings
-barcodes, checking in and out of the books won't work. when I go into a
record in the cataloging area and pull up a record - all the information is
there but when I go to edit it the edit screen comes up and it is totally empty
and library name (as if I had not set the no-library setand I have set it) is
wrong and when I fill edit page out again with the same information and save
changes I get an error message.I download from LC, edit biblio if needed,
then save and edit holdings, fill out local holdings (edit) and then save.
there are no holdings now for all the records in the database -I had some
before-what am I doing wrong or missing? I don't understand why all the
holdings are gone.

another question deals with the rebuilding of the database. i see lots of
questions and comments about zebra_rebuild. some of them have it programed to
run every 15-30-45 minute intervals.I am wondering if this could be part of
the problem. it rebuilds the collection, merges like bibliographies, cleans up
the database, and I am wondering if it adds the holdings to the database? I am
not sure when ours run or if this is a problem I need to worry about. I am
very frustrated.

thanks in advance!!
margaret

Hello

I have had two patrons today checking in overdue items (they come up as overdue
on check in) but no fine has been created on their account.

We upgraded to 3.4 recently – I had a quick look in the system prefs, calendar
and fine rules and I think it all looks ok. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks in advance

[Koha] Self Checkout System Return Items

2011-07-22 Thread WTC
Hello

The return item button on our Self Checkout System has disappeared. We have
upgraded to 3.4.2 from 3.2.9 recently.

Previously when a patron signed in to the Self Checkout System they were
presented with a list of items they had borrowed and there was a Return Item
button for check in of items. Now the list is there but no Return Item
button, only the word No.

Is there a preference I need to update?

Many thanks
Rob

[Koha] Overdue procedures with few e-mails on record

2011-07-22 Thread Lesley Kimball
Hello all,

We are working on getting our overdue notice procedures up and running and
we are in a situation where 98% of our patrons do not have an e-mail address
entered into their record. With our past systems we have always printed
lists (based on time overdue) and then made phone calls to those people who
we don't have e-mails for. I'm not sure how this can work with Koha. We
have just gotten the overdue cron-jobs set up, but obviously still need to
be able to contact people who won't be receiving e-mails.

Would anyone mind talking off-list if you have any experience or
suggestions?

Thanks,

Lesley Kimball
