Re: [Koha] Problems after upgrade to 3.4.3

2011-09-09 Thread Lars J. Helbo

Hi again!

Apparently this was it.

In the system preferences the use of Zebra had been turned off. I
have no idea how and why this has happened. But after turning Zebra
on again, the problem is gone.

  By the way, I am a bit confused about this. Line 2835 in Biblio.pm
  is in the middle of this procedure:

  sub _AddBiblioNoZebra {
   my ( $biblionumber, $record, $server, %result ) = @_;
   my $dbh = C4::Context-dbh;

  From the name of it, I would guess that this procedure is used for
  adding new biblios on a system, which does not use zebra?

  But we do use zebra and the error-message comes at check in and
  check out.

Hi!

We still have the problem. check in and check out works as it
should, but after each check in or check out, we get this error
message:

"Can't call method "subfield" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 2835."

Our installation of Koha 3.00.03 (which worked perfet) is on
another physical server, so we can compare directly. The Marc to
Koha mapping is the same on the two servers. On the new server
the file record.abs had an extra line:

melm 952$i stocknumber

First we tried to comment that out. Then we even took record.abs
from the old server and copied it to the new one. After this we
reindexed zebra. But the problem is still the same.

Any ideas what to do

[Koha] Question on KOHA OAI and XSLT to MARC21

2011-09-09 Thread Hugo Agud
Dear all

I am looking for somebody who have developed the OAI MARC21 extended XSLT,
who wish to share or license ;)

We are integrating Koha with Extensible Catalogue and although oai_dc is
also compatible, we think we have more potential developement using MARC21,
instead, there are other solutions but also more complicated

We can develope it by our own or hire somebody , but first we wish to take a
look on the community

Kindest Regards
Hugo

Re: [Koha] Server hardware questions

  Does Koha work well on 64bit Debian? Are the Debian packages
  available for 64bit?

Koha, as I have seen it is agnostic about this 32 vs. 64 bit thing.

I may be wrong though. All the installations I have done have been on 64
bit systems running debian testing.

  Does it make sense to have more than 2 or 3GB of RAM for Koha
  performance? In that case we would need a 64bit system. I'm under
  the impression that a lot of the database stuff happens in RAM, is
  that right?

More RAM, merrier. As much as you can afford.

  Are there other things worth considering regaring server hardware?

Run it 'headless' - ie., use a tty / ssh to login.

[Koha] Koha biblionumber in opac detail and staff normal

2011-09-09 Thread Linda Culberson
Our staff is wanting the biblionumber to appear in both the normal view
of staff client and in the opac detail. I've told them that they can
see it in the marc view and in the address bar but they want it visible
in the page. Has anyone else dealt with this without it being a RFP and
major rewrite (no money at this time)

Thanks!

2011-09-09 Thread Owen Leonard
 Our staff is wanting the biblionumber to appear in both the normal view of
 staff client and in the opac detail.

Why?

Any why isn't being able to see the biblionumber in the URL sufficient?

I would think 99% of users of an OPAC wouldn't care to see a
biblionumber, since the number is meaningless outside the context of
Koha.

However, this is possible to do with custom javascript. Put this in
the opacuserjs system preference to try it in the OPAC:

$(document).ready(function(){
 var biblionumber = $(input[name=bib]).val();
 $(h5.author).after(span class=\results_summary\span
class=\label\Biblionumber: /span+biblionumber+/span);
});

[Koha] Searching catalog

2011-09-09 Thread John
Hi, I most probably have the most basic of questions, but this
is all very new to me (I have only recently installed Koha on
my computer). I started to add Marc records with attached items,
but if I search the catalog, it does not register these records.
I can't find a list with these records either. Can somebody please
help me?

I guess you're using Zebra indexing engine with your Koha. Every time
you issue a search from Koha, zebra is asked to do the job.

Zebra needs to be tolds to update those added/updated/deleted
registers. That's why the INSTALL docs tell you to set a 'cronjob' to
run the rebuild_zebra.pl script often. You can check this for a proper
setup
