Re: [Koha] PDF file in catalogue
My suggestions based on our practice: 1. URL to click on goes in MARC field 856, subfield $u OR it can go into Koha item record field 952, subfield $u The link appears in a different place in the public catalogue, depending on which field you use. Or you could put same URL into BOTH the 856 and the 952. 2. Create new item type. Kurt A. [Koha] limit display length of last name? (holdslip)
Our library branch places hold items (to be picked up) in a public area for patrons to grab and check out for themselves. For privacy reasons, we'd like to limit the info displayed on the hold slips/receipts. Is there a way to limit the length (e.g. first 2 letters) of the surname displayed on these receipts AND is there a way to limit the display of units of the cardnumber (e.g. the LAST 4 numbers). I'm hoping it's a matter of simple HTML code for displaying pieces (or limited lengths) of database info that I've never needed to know about until now. Many thanks to whomever can provide a solution and/or other alternatives for privatizing the hold slips. We're currently typing this code (first 2 of last name and last 4 of card number) into a template that we print via Publisher. It'd be great if we could write/code it into Koha to do for us. KOHA exports directly to Zotero from the list function. Re: [Koha] Placing holds on ordered items
Bonnie, You need to attach an item for it to allow holds. There is a 'not for loan' status of 'ordered' that you apply to the item record so that patrons know it's not available yet and so that they can place holds on them. Nicole C. Does anyone know of a way to makes titles holdable before items are actually received? I'd appreciate any insights you may have. Re: [Koha] Citation creator
The longer answer, Zotero can create a citation, but indirectly, you have to download the info into Zotero first, then use Zotero to create the citation for you. I use Zotero all the time, very helpful in my other work. [Koha] Introduction and a question
Hello everybody! First of all let me briefly introduce myself. I am a physicist with roughly ten years of experience in the ICT field, eight of which in international and multi-cultural environments. I have a good background in web applications and IT research with extensive experience in all aspects of free and open source software, plus I have worked in recent years in the areas of technical training and instructional design. During the last few weeks I started a project here in Turin, Italy that includes the creation of an ILS/OPAC for a foundation that bought a considerable number of books in Arabic. In order to build it up, Koha was chosen. I made the first attempts to install the software on my local machine (running Ubuntu 10.10), just to start testing. After reading several docs I ended up with Apache replying my requests with this message: System Maintenance The Koha Online Catalog is offline for system maintenance. We'll be back soon! If you have any questions, please contact the Site Administrator mailto: on the OPAC port, while I get: Unable to connect on the Intranet port. I see that this is not a new problem, so please forgive me if I've missed the message that solves it all. RTFM is an acceptable answer (just point me to some links, please :D ) Best regards, Stefano ___ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha
