[Koha] bulkmarcimport-problems!

2012-02-17 Thread Magdalena Söderqvist
Hi all,
my IT-expert is helping me import some marc-records which I have edited in Marc
Edit. But importing the records back into Koha is not working. And the editing
itself does not seem to be the problem, we get the same error message when
trying to import the orginal, unedited .mrc file, which I pulled from the
tools/export.pl page. Do the below messages contain enough information to
tell what we're doing wrong? Any help is, as always, much appreciated. We are
currently running version 3.6.2 on Debian Squeeze.

Also: we're doing this on a copy of the database, could that be part of the
problem?

Cheers,
Magdalena

From the subject I guess you are re-importing with the
bulkmarcimport.pl command line script. How are you running that? With
what options?

The default is that Koha will add your records as if they were new,
which causes the error above, because the barcodes that you try to
import are already present in the database.

I *think* this should be taken care of if you run the script with
-match 999c - this should match on the biblionumber in field 999$c.
I have not tested that though...

[Koha] Display Barcode in OPAC Normal View

2012-02-17 Thread Vimal Kumar
Dear Friends,
In my experience most of the koha users are like to see barcode in OPAC
Normal view.
See the example,
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-H0APDWhWE8o/Tz6G1-1TX7I/Gzw/e-0I3v5CRf0/s400/Koha%2520Online%2520Catalog.png
I request developers to display barcode in OPAC Normal View in future
versions of Koha.

How can I display barcode in OPAC Normal View in current version of Koha?
Can you guide me?

No need for DNS. Set it correctly in /etc/hosts - your system is
probably currently confused about its name and primary IP address.

Alternatively, you can set the WEBSERVER_IP environment variable
which will bypass trying to use gethostbyname and risking that error.

Other stuff will probably break on a confused system, so it's best
to fix /etc/hosts and hostname if you can.

 Hope that helps,

[Koha] printing non-receipt-size docs via firefox - how?

2012-02-17 Thread Adams, Jason
Ever since we've installed Koha with Epson receipt printers and Dymo
label writers attached (and various other standard networked printers),
we've had difficulties printing anything else but receipts via Mozilla
Firefox (i.e. web pages, database docs, print-screens, and even Koha
holds reports). It seems that our Firefox settings to print Koha
receipts overrides almost anything else we do through Firefox, affecting
the size of our printouts (e.g. we'll get a receipt-sized column of a
full 8.5x11 printout). Even selecting a different paper size or
another printer doesn't help - we still get the 2.5 column on a full
piece of paper. Sound familiar? PDFs seem to print fine as do Word and
Publisher documents. This has been such a problem for us that we've had
to limit our non-Koha printouts to just two or three computers out of
the 12 or more PCs we own; thus, often forcing us to email ourselves
links, documents, print screens, etc. just so we can switch computers
and print them from a different computer.

Anyone know of any quick fixes, shortcut keys, and/or Firefox add-ons
that could help us? Thanks in advance!

2012-02-17 Thread Liz Rea
We use a customized version of Firefox for this, it's basically
portable firefox that we set up with the receipt printers so that
users can use their normal, installed firefox to print normal sized
documents on the regular printer.

You can have a look at it here:

2012-02-17 Thread G. Laws
This is apparently standard behavior--just the way it is, or at least
that's our experience too. One fix is to run a separate instance of
Firefox using a different profile (run firefox -ProfileManager), or
install and use Chrome for your non-Koha web browsing.

Yes, using the Holds policy by item type controls in the circ and fine

to limit which libraries can request holds (technically, the method I
am thinking of is undocumented, and is considered a bug, but you may
be convincing me that it's not a bug and actually is useful).
