Re: [Koha] insallation problem

2012-03-30 Thread anjoze
Hi again,

Another suggestion...
I always use the LTS (Long term support) Ubuntu version... now its Version
10.04.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS
I use the Server version, but if you prefer the desktop version, after you
install it and update it you can install tasksel
*sudo apt-get install tasksel* and then run it and select *LAMP server*.
http://www.unixmen.com/install-lamp-with-1-command-in-ubuntu-1010-maverick-meerkat/

Then, you follow step by step installation from the file
*INSTALL.ubuntu.lucid* that is included in the koha package that you have
downloaded. http://download.koha-community.org/koha-latest.tar.gz

Then, if you still need the libyaz3 package you can add the repository ex:
*deb http://ubuntu.mirror.cambrium.nl/ubuntu/ lucid main universe* to your
*/etc/apt/sources.list* and than sudo apt-get install the_package_you_want.
You can download it and install it manually to.

Hope it helps.

Re: [Koha] seeking help with installing Koha

2012-03-30 Thread anjoze
Well, first you have the official documentation and wiki
http://koha-community.org/documentation/
http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Category:Installation

Then you have the forum where you can search:
http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com
As an example, the first part of this reply:

[Koha] Installing on an Amazon EC2 Debian Squeeze

2012-03-30 Thread Paul Orkiszewski

Hi all.

Can someone help a newbie get pointed in the right direction? I'm
trying to get a working installation of Koha on an Amazon EC2 Debian
Squeeze virtual machine and have:

- followed http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.6_on_Debian_Squeeze
- followed notes in /usr/share/doc/koha-common/README.Debian
- created a site which I can find in the terminal

If I understand correctly I should now be able to go to my site -
http://ec2-23-20-143-204.compute-1.amazonaws.com - and see something at
/koha or /kohadmin, but nothing's there.

I think I'm missing something glaringly obvious ...

Paul

Re: [Koha] Kohadocs Git

Only I have rights to push on the manual git repo. You need to email
your patches to the Koha Docs list and I'll apply them and push them
if they apply properly.

[Koha] Call for papers for Kohacon12

2012-03-30 Thread Chris Cormack
The call for conference papers is open. We’d love to see presentations
from librarians for librarians, sharing their experiences, tricks and
tips. Talk times are flexible, with long and short options, so please
consider registering as a speaker.

We are particularly keen to receive proposals about archives/special
libraries using Koha, Resource Description Framework/Semantic
Web/Linked Data and the Koha packages, in both the main conference and
the later hackfest.

Please complete the form at
http://koha-community.org/kohacon12/call-papers/

We will prefer vendor-neutral talks, in English or with English
translation, with copyright licensed under GPLv2+, CC-By, CC-By-SA or
something similar. Examples from a previous conference can be viewed
at http://www.kohacon10.org.nz/

The deadline for talk proposals is April 20, so please go submit one now
