Re: [Koha] Koha Routing List Email Alerts

2013-01-11 Thread Anselm Olweny
Thanks Liz,

I followed your guidance and it works. I also add my voice to yours in
saying the the koha development team should consider enabling the librarian
to be able to subscibe patrons from the staff cleint.

In addition, I met another problem, I edited the routing list notice from
Tools to include the volume number/issue number, but unfortunately the
email alert received only includes the serial title without the
Volume/Issue numbers. Is they any way around this problem?

Thanks again Liz

 Hi there,

I came across this just the other day. :)

The way it works is as follows:

First, configure your subscription to have an entry in the Patron
Notification drop down (See screenshot 1 I have attached)

Then, log in as a user of the opac, search for that serial, then click
More details at the bottom of the record. You should then see a link
Subscribe to email notification on new issues

Staff can then see who has subscribed in the serials interface - by
clicking on Subscribers next to Patron notification (see screenshots 2 and
 3 I have attached).

This functionality of patrons receiving email when a serial is received is
actually independent of the routing lists, and patrons cannot actually be
added to the subscriptions by a librarian from the staff interface (a
severe limitation of the feature, in my opinion).

Nicole - It would be cool if this were in the manual, I think this feature
 is currently undocumented.

 I hope this helps,

 Dear Colleagues,

I am using koha version 3.08. I have correctly added a serial subscription
and created a routing list. However, when I receive a new issue of the
serial, an email alert is not sent to/received by the members I have added
in the routing list for the serial. Could anyone kindly guide me on why
this may be happening and what I need to do so that email alerts are sent
to the members in the routing list.

 Thanks

thank you very much for your explain but I can see the images.
As I known mailman (the mailing software) drops the images.

Dear Koha kommunitarians,

I'm harvesting news for this month's newsletter. Please send me by the 20th

News can be as short as a sentence or as long as a paper. I especially
encourage you to send me a line or two for the gossip/society column about
what you're currently working on.

And if you know of a go-live not announced on the list, please be sure to
let me know about it.

[Koha] Trouble with new items in processing

2013-01-11 Thread Agnes Rivers-Moore

Dear Koha friends

First, my apologies if this is a repeat - I posted and waited 4 hours
before trying again.

We just upgraded to Koha 3.6, build 10.
We turned on the NewItemsDefaultLocation setting.
(We are not using the processing to cart option.)

According to the manual, the act of checking in an item should revert
the PROC location to the permanent location as catalogued.

This is not happening for us.
The location does change from Shelves to In Processing when the item is
saved.
However it does not revert to the saved location when the item is
checked in. Location is still PROC.

I checked the table row, and it does have location PROC, permanent
location Shelves.
After checking it in, timestamp is updated, but the two location columns
are not changed.

Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?

Thank you
Agnes

Re: [Koha] searching by language

2013-01-11 Thread Bernardo Gonzalez Kriegel
Amal,
My library has more than 6 languages in its records. I would like to know
how to search by language; I have checked the 041 field which is empty. if
searching by language in OPAC does not work. What is missing and how can I
 fix this problem. Please advice

if you records have language specified in 008 [1]
then you could search using language=xxx,
with xxx one of MARC21 language codes [2]

Bernardo

 Dear friends,

We want to attach several URLs to the MARC record. Since the 856 $u field
is repeatable, we have decided to clone the subfield several times. Yet,
when we search for the record in the OPAC, only the first link is displayed
in the results' page, meanwhile the other ones are not visible at all.

We have a similar problem with the 856 $y field as well. All subfields
are concatenated in one field and are displayed as a one text.

We want to have all links each one with its appropriate text value, and of
course, displayed separately. Is it possible?

 Thank you in advance,

 Dear friends,

Couple of pointers first :

a) use a suitable subject line to your email, if you wish people to
help you. without it, your query might escape attention.

b) while posting (specially when you are starting a new thread), you
need to mention the version of Koha you are using. A lot of things are
version specific.

only the first link is displayed in the results' page, meanwhile the other
ones are not visible at all.

Proper use of custom XSLT stylesheets and templates is the short
answer to your question.

Have a look here - http://libill.hartford.edu/koha/docs/koha_XSLT_howto.pdf

hope this helps,
