Re: [Koha] debian upgrade error

To "solve" this issue I downgraded to koha 3.8. That's the best I could do!

So, in my opinion if you want to have koha working try the 3.8 version

[Koha] Koha Help

2013-03-20 Thread Layale Bassil
Dear All,

I have previously sent a question about koha 3.10.03 but did not get any
feedback. I have installed another version of Koha 3.08.10 maybe this would
solve the problems I am having but in vain!

I will show one of the problems and I hope I can get a proposed solution for
this:

1- When I go to the MARC frameworks page (under Administration--> Marc
Frameworks), I get the list of frameworks with the first two columns left empty
(Code & Description).

2- If I click on any “Marc Structure” link, I get redirected to the list
of fields in the structure but also the columns are empty (Tag, Lib, etc…). But
note that the drop down “In framework” found in this page shows the list of
frameworks with their names.

3- If I try to create a new catalog (More --> Cataloging --> New Record)
and select any of the available frameworks, the page refreshes but does not
show the list of fields to be filled.

I really would like to know your input regarding these problems. It might be a
database problem or a simple missing settings while installing.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Layale.

it may be a problem of the database.
Do you perform a new installation? If yes you can try to delete the database
and make a new one, then redo the installation of Koha via the Web
Interface, and install all the samples (framework, patron, etc...).

Well thanks a lot for your reply. You are right, I guess it is a database

Thanks again.

Hello Layale,

if you are not familiar with MySQL I suggest you to install PhpMyAdmin to
manage the database on the server.
http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/downloads.php

>From PhpMyAdmin you can see the database for Koha, you can delete and make a
new one.

You must see the file /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml for the name, and the username
and password of the database.

Once you have create the new database you have to go to
https://domaniname:8080 (login with the usename and the password of the
database) and follow the step for the Web Installation, here the wizard ask
you to install all the samples.

[Koha] SQL runs outside of staff client but not inside it

2013-03-20 Thread Doug Dearden
Hello all,

I am working on some SQL to get a report for last month's acquisitions, and
worked up the following code to do it:

SELECT MONTH(CURDATE()) INTO @curmonth;
SELECT MONTH(CURDATE())-1 INTO @lastmonth;
SELECT YEAR(CURDATE()) INTO @reportyear;
SELECT YEAR(CURDATE())-1 INTO @lastmnthyear;
SELECT IF (@curmonth=1, 12, @lastmonth) into @lastmonth;
SELECT IF (@curmonth=1, @lastmnthyear, @reportyear) into @reportyear;
SELECT CONCAT(@reportyear,"-",@lastmonth,"-01") into @begindate;
SELECT LAST_DAY(@begindate) into @enddate;
SELECT
EXTRACTVALUE(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="245"]/subfield[@code="a"]') as "Title:",
EXTRACTVALUE(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="245"]/subfield[@code="b"]') as subtitle,
EXTRACTVALUE(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="245"]/subfield[@code="c"]') as
"statement of responsibility",
EXTRACTVALUE(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="260"]/subfield[@code="b"]') as
Publisher,
EXTRACTVALUE(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="260"]/subfield[@code="c"]') as Date,
EXTRACTVALUE(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="092"]/subfield[@code="a"]') as "Call
Number first part",
EXTRACTVALUE(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="092"]/subfield[@code="b"]') as "Call
Number second part",
items.dateaccessioned as "Date Accessioned"
FROM biblioitems LEFT JOIN items on
(biblioitems.biblioitemnumber=items.biblioitemnumber)
WHERE items.dateaccessioned BETWEEN @begindate and @enddate
ORDER BY items.dateaccessioned asc

If I put this in a text file on the server, and call it using mysql it runs
fine. When I put it into an SQL report on the staff client it fails with this
error: "Can't use an undefined value as an ARRAY reference at
/usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/reports/guided_reports.pl line 766"

Looking at that line in guided_reports.pl it is where the column headings are
being loaded into an array.

The problem definitely lies in the first half of the code where I am loading
date information into variables to build the begin and end dates. If that code
is removed and actual dates entered for the BETWEEN values the report runs fine
in the staff client.

If the answer here is that it isn't going to run in the staff client, I can set
it up to run on the server and create a cron job to automate it. If that is
the case should I open a bug for this, or am I getting outside of the scope of
the guided reports tool to begin with?

Koha 3.10.0 on Debian Squeeze .

The guided reports module has support for placeholders, detailed here:

http://manual.koha-community.org/3.10/en/reportsfaq.html#runtimefaq

In your specific example, if you were always basing the criteria on
the current day, you could likely construct expressions for the WHERE
clause that had the desired effect without needing variables or
parameters.

It's pushing the scope of the guided reports tool, since one of its
design points is attempting to prevent the user from constructing SQL
statements that could update, delete, or otherwise damage the
database. Multi-line statements would be harder to evaluate.

To elaborate, it is being suggested that you drop your Koha database
and reinstall it because a missing default framework indicates some
kind of problem with the original installation process. It is most
definitely not a problem with 3.10.x that will be fixed by downgrading
to 3.8.x.

If you have just started using Koha and it is safe to start your
database over from scratch it might be a good idea. Another option is
to import the default framework manually, but if something went wrong
with your installation there might be other problems with your
database which haven't surfaced.
