Re: [Koha] adding filed 949 and volume in item interface

2014-02-05 Thread Ekelem Vera
I have been able to resolve the problem of adding field 949.

The second problem is activating sub-field  for volume in item.
What is the sub-field for volume and how do i get it activated in item?
Thank you.

Edit subfields - choose the subfield you want to display and check the Advanced
constraints.  Make sure the visibility is set to display where you want to see
it.
If you want it to display in the ISBD you will have to edit that too, but if
it's set up correctly it should display in normal views.
For some reason the default is for it to not display in the editor.

Re: [Koha] Installing Koha 3.12 on CentOS 5.x 32bit

2014-02-05 Thread Mark Tompsett

Greetings,

Questions:
1. Is it possible to install Koha 3.12 or 3.14 on CentOS 5.x?

No, it is not easily possible.
Newer, supported (by the general masses for small amounts of free time)
versions of Koha require Perl 5.10 -- and that's still pretty old.
However, CentOS 5 (if I recall correctly) still only has 5.8. You would need
to figure how to upgrade your Perl without busting the rest of the
environment. I don't know how.

CentOS 6 does have 5.10, but getting Koha onto CentOS is not the easiest of
tasks.

2. I referred this post but not being able to get it to work. What are the
packages which I should get before I start installing Koha into it.
3. apt-get does not work for me. I have wget installed but no dpkg as
explained in this post.
4. I am totally new to VPS thing, where exactly should I copy all the
files

etc.?

There are different kinds of Linux variants with their own packaging
systems. Debian and debian-based OS's (like Ubuntu) use apt-get. CentOS is
not Debian-based. It is Red Hat based. You would use yum. However, you can't
get an apt-get command, turn the word apt-get into yum and expect it to
work. Red Hat and Debian do many things differently.

OS: CentOS 5.x 32bit
Bandwidth limit: 500 GB
Memory: 512 MB
Disk: 20 GB

Lastly, 512MB?! Seriously consider 1GB at least.

Mark Tompsett

Re: [Koha] adding filed 949 and volume in item interface

2014-02-05 Thread Elaine Bradtke
Are you asking - where do you put this information in the item record (Koha
952) ?
We don't use copy numbers in our library, but if we did, I'd use 952
subfield h for the volume number and 952 subfield t for the copy
number.

[Koha] Item search without searching for bib record id

2014-02-05 Thread magmatic
When we search for items, we often search for the bar code, but then some
books show up that get matched on the biblio record, which is confusing. Is
there a setting somewhere that we can set so that searches don't match on
bib record number?

Thanks

Re: [Koha] Item search without searching for bib record id

2014-02-05 Thread Hernandez, Heather
Hi, Tim--

To search by barcode, have you tried the prefix bc, e.g.:
bc=123456
or:
bc:123456

(I prefer using the colon rather than the equals sign because it's faster
to type, and it also works!)

There are other helpful search prefixes in this guide (I use it all the
time):
http://manual.koha-community.org/3.12/en/searchguide.html

Hope this is helpful! Cheerio,
