[Koha] Setting up emails in Koha

2015-03-26 Thread Fiona O'Connell
Hello

Can someone help with the following. I am trying to set up automatic
emails to be sent when books are overdue. In Patron preferences we have
the following;
*General* primary address - use first valid.
*Interface options*, Admin email, Reply to default and overdue notice BCC
 - my email address.

I have set up overdue notice/status triggers for 7, 14 and 28 days and
ticked the email box in the first two and restrict and email in the last
notice. In Notices and slips I have set up 3 separate notices
ODUE/ODUE2/ODUE3.

Finally, I have asked IT to check if we have a working MTA (mail transport
agent) running on the server that has Koha and told them they may have to
use the command 'koha-email-enable'. They said this is set up correctly but
we are still not getting emails sent out. Any suggestions gratefully
accepted. I am not very tech savvy so the simpler the explanation the
better.

Thanks

KOHA 3.16 it works just fine but the problem lies on the latest version,
even with the default

process_message_queue, n others as well

Is this problem related to zebra-daemon whichis newly introduced in 3.18
that needs to be activated
for the cron's to run, or is the problem with the release itself.

Any pointers would be helpful

[Koha] How do i enable configure Koha OAI-PMH server

2015-03-26 Thread benson Mugambi
Hi Folks,I am implementing Vufind2 federated search to facilitate indexing
koha, ejournals and dspace e-repository. It has been a bit straight forward to
harvest metadata from the dspace repository using OAI-PMH, but i had to import
marc records to vufind to populate the indexes with bibliographic records. The
problem with this method is that any updates on the ILS cannot be automatically
reflected on the vufind index. With a OAI-PMH harvesting, it would be possible
to automatically sychronize the updates on ILS and the e-repository with
vufind. I have zero experience on Koha's OAI-PMH configuration and access. I
would really appreciate if anyone can give some easy steps on how to configure
Koha's OAI-PMH. If anyone has experience harvesting Koha metadata using
OAI-PMH, i would be happy to know how they went about it.Regards,Benson Mugambi

[Koha] Koha for community information directory

2015-03-26 Thread Iming Chan
Dear all,

We are using Koha to manage our small library. I'm just wondering whether
anyone is also using it to maintain a community information directory? I
know there is a separate MARC format for community information (found at
Library of Congress -- http://www.loc.gov/marc/community). Therefore I
expect Koha to be able to handle such information. However, I'm
particularly interested to see how you present a Google map with supplied
address during the OPAC search?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Re: [Koha] Serial Subscription Help

2015-03-26 Thread Nicole Engard
What about creating a custom frequency, is there any way to do it in there
without having to make edits to the predicted dates?

Nicole

On Thu, Mar 19, 2015 at 10:25 AM, Gaetan Boisson
gaetan.bois...@biblibre.com wrote:

  Hi Nicole,

the pattern you describe is between two times a month and once every two
weeks actually. It's not the same thing since we don't have exactly four
 weeks per month.

Looking at the link you gave and a calendar (for 2015), it seems this
publication is issued once every other tuesday. (It looks like it is first
and third tuesdays of every month like Julian said.)
But then, you can have 3 tuesdays in one month, which is what's happening
for march 2015. Issue 7 should be on the 31st of March if we were truly
publishing one issue once every two weeks. I'd say the serial is published
every other tuesday but twice a month no matter what. In this case you'll
have to manage it as an irregularity : the publication skips one week if
there are 3 tuesdays in one month, and this is too complicated to be
supported by the serials module by itself.

What i would do is set up this serial with a once every two weeks
frequency, and the 7th of January as the first issue publication date. It
would look alright until issue 7, which would be planned for the 31st of
March, and the next issue being 2 weeks after it would be scheduled for the
14th of April and everything onwards would be screwed.
I would save the subscription this way, after receiving number 6, Koha
would generate number 7, for the 31st of March. Before receiving it (i
think you could do it when receiving it too), i'd edit this serial, and
change the publication date to the 7th of April (which is my guess at how
this publication works). This way, the next issues generated will be based
on this date, and the subscription will be back on track. You'll have to do
this everytime you have 3 tuesdays in the same month.

The rest of the model looks fine to me, and the numbers should increment
 and roll properly.

 Hope that helps,

 Le 19/03/2015 14:41, Nicole Engard a écrit :

 Hi all,

 I have this subscription: http://annals.org/issues.aspx

You can see the the numbering/dates should look like this:

 Jan 7 160 (1)
 Jan 21 160 (2)
 Feb 4 160 (3)
 Feb 18 160 (4)
 Mar 4 160 (5)
 Mar 18 160 (6)
 Apr 1 160 (7)
 Apr 15 160 (8)
 May 6 160 (9)
 May 20 160 (10)
 Jun 3 160 (11)
 Jun 17 160 (12)
 Jul 1 161 (1)
 Jul 15 161 (2)
 Aug 5 161 (3)
 Aug 19 161 (4)
 Sep 2 161 (5)
 Sep 16 161 (6)
 Oct 7 161 (7)
 Oct 21 161 (8)
 Nov 4 161 (9)
 Nov 18 161 (10)
 Dec 2 161 (11)
 Dec 16 161 (12)

But when I put it in I get this: http://screencast.com/t/0PTXDxJC (note
that the dates on the pattern on the right don't match the dates above -
 the numbering is right though)

How do I set up a pattern for 2 times a month?

 Thanks a bunch in advance!

[Koha] I need help with Koha OAI Server

2015-03-26 Thread benson Mugambi
Hi folks,I am working on availing koha database for external indexing using
OAI:PMH but i have run into some difficulties.
I believe members of this community with experience working on OAI can give
clues on how to resolve.
First i am running Koha-common 3.18.05.100 on ubuntu trusty 14.04 - 64bit
All the perl modules are in green status apart from Readonly::XS which i have
fiddled with unsuccessfully.
I am able to index and search all records without any problems . I have enabled
OAI server and configured sets from the intranet interface but i have ran into
difficulties immediately when trying to build the sets:
Earlier on i was unable to find the standard OAI command among the commands
provided by debian packages
(http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Commands_provided_by_the_Debian_packages).
When i tried to do it directly i got an exception:
root@bibliotheque:~# /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/build_oai_sets.pl -o
-l -v
unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at
/usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373.

Can't call method config on unblessed reference at
/usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 779.

Eventually, i was able to execute the build sets by issuing the command
sudo KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml
PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib
/usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/build_oai_sets.pl -o -l -v
I thought i was out of the woods, but accessing the OAI url produced another
exception:

XML Parsing Error: junk after document element
Location: http://localhost:8001/cgi-bin/koha/oai.pl
Line Number 2, Column 1:preCan't call method quot;start_elementquot; on an
undefined value at /usr/local/share/perl/5.18.2/HTTP/OAI/Response.pm line 114.
^

How do i move forward from here? I have almost reached the EOTC (End of
Thinking Capacity)
Regards,
Benson

[Koha] Take a copy of Koha library

2015-03-26 Thread Dalal Al-Akhras
Hi,

Could you please help me!

We have this library http://library.mcst.edu.sa (Koha version 3.12.07).
I'd like to install a copy of the library (same files + DB) on a virtual
machine in order to make some tests because I don't want to make the tests
on the production environment.

I don't have much experience in Ubuntu and koha.
Could you please tell me how can I take a copy from that library, or guide
me to any useful article or YouTube.

Thank you for your cooperation

*Regards,*
