[Koha] Koha upgrade from 17.11 to 18.05

2018-05-25 Thread Father Vlasie
Hello everyone,

I am new to this mailing list. I am the IT person for
the St. Photios Orthodox Theological Seminary in
Etna, California, U.S.A.

I have been working on and off with Koha for about
a year. We are finally getting close to cataloguing
our library.

I am very excited for the new 18.05 release but when
I try to upgrade through my Debian (4.9.0-6-amd64
#1 SMP Debian 4.9.82-1+deb9u3 (2018-03-02)) system
I get the following feedback:

Reading package lists... Done
W: Conflicting distribution: http://debian.koha-community.org/koha stable
InRelease (expected 17.11 but got 18.05)

If I try to upgrade anyway it holds koha-common back:

root@owl:# apt-get upgrade

The following packages have been kept back:
  koha-common libmoo-perl
The following packages will be upgraded:
  libprocps6 procps
2 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Sincerely,

Father Vlasie

/usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/cloud-kw.pl is the file you would want to study.

I did edit the html_cloud sub-routine to set the font to Roboto

The output file can be placed anywhere under the OPAC DocumentRoot
which is /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs on a package based installation.

However I this case what I did was to copy the HTML source from the
output file and plonk that into the OPACMainUserBlock system
preference.

hope this helps.

Re: [Koha] Introduction / Problem with bulk import

2018-05-25 Thread Barton Chittenden
Markus,

First, welcome to the Koha community. There's also a German mailing list,
Katrin or Mirko can point you in the right direction if you're more
comfortable _mit Deutsch_ although your English seems quite good.

In terms of the error message that you're seeing, MARC::File::XML isn't
actually part of the Koha distribution, which makes it difficult to tell
what's happening just from the error message itself.

I can't remember if this mailing list allows attachments -- you can try
attaching the marcxml files as long as they're not too large, otherwise
upload them somewhere public and send us a link. We'll also need the
command line arguments that you used.

I would also suggest running bulkmarcimport.pl with the -v2 flag enabled --
this will give you verbose output, which might be useful for
trouble-shooting.

Cheers, Gruesse, usw.

It sounds as though the file you are trying to import is not a
well-formed XML document; it may be truncated in the middle of a record.
Can you post it for us to look at? What XML library does your
conversion script use?

Alternatively, if you have installed libexpat you can use the xmlwf
command to check that the file is well-formed. Or try xmllint if you
have installed libxml. For example:

xmlwf FILE
xmlwf -n FILE
xmllint --noout FILE

Re: [Koha] Koha upgrade issues - from Koha 3.12 to Koha 17.11

2018-05-25 Thread Philippe Blouin
It is quite possible that update had already been processed through some
fix in your 3.12.x sub-version.

Having done quite a few upgrades over the years, I don't remember one
where I didn't get one update error or another.  But always there was a
logical explanation, and the end result was perfectly ok.

If the errors on patronimage are your only ones, I would (personnally)
trust the end result and keep proceeding with a simple upgrade using
updatedatabase.pl to move to 17.11.

I am wondering why can't we export the biblios and items data in MARC

The only issue with this approach is circulation data. I am hoping that we
can get around this by using Koha Offline Circulation tool.

Your feedback is much appreciated.

If you do not usually read the release notes, you should at least read the

The Debian packages for this new version will be available soon. Stay tuned!

They are supposed to work out-of-the-box on:
* Debian Jessie (8)
* Debian Stretch (9)
* Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS)
And should work without too much trouble under Ubuntu Bionic (18.04 LTC),

This indicates there is a problem with libhttp-oai-perl. The version
in Stretch (4.03) is broken. To provide the OAI functionality of
Koha, there is a backported version libhttp-oai-3.27-perl for
systems that ship libhttp-oai-perl 4.x. This version conflicts with
the systems libhttp-oai-perl.

However I can't reproduce the problem. On upgrade I get warnings,
but libhttp-oai-3.27-perl is installed and Koha is upgraded.

Thanks for the hint, Indranil!

I have two questions:

1. How did you add CSS style directives to the cloud? I guess you set
"Withcss: Yes" in your cloud.conf file, but what else has to be done?
Where do I have to actually write them for them to be included in the
output file? Or did you edit the file yourself?

2. Where do I have to put the output file for the keywords to link to
actual searches? That's the "Output" value in cloud.conf.

Hi everybody,

thanks & congratulations Jonathan for this release!

The Debian package of Koha 18.05.00 is now available from the
community repository. The repository layout has changed:

Koha 18.05 is now 'stable'.
Koha 17.11 is now 'oldstable'.
Koha 17.05 is now 'oldoldstable' (security updates only).

Please check the Koha wiki for more information about supported
branches and apt configuration:
https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Debian#Set_up_package_sources

The missing dependencies for Ubuntu 18.04 are now available for Koha
18.05 and 17.11. Installation should work out of the box.

If you encounter any problems with the repository, like missing
dependencies, please let me know.

Cheers,

Mirko

ball and followed wiki for tar ball installation on Ubuntu but failed. I
also tried to install sudo apt-get install koha-common but at this time I
got web installer of 17.11. why version to version changing installation
method?

[Koha] Introduction / Problem with bulk import

2018-05-25 Thread Markus Becker
Dear Koha-community!

- First i want to apologize that my English is a little bit rusty ...

- Second, i want to introduce myself:

My name ist Markus Becker, living in Duisburg, Germany. On the one
hand i am head librarian of the Ministry of Home Affairs
Northrine-Westfalia in Düsseldorf, on other hand i am a student of
,,Bibliotheksinformatik'' (Library Computer Science) at the Wildau
Institute of Technology.

For my Master Thesis i want to take a deeper look on Koha, trying to
proof, that Koha is an possible LMS for the governmental libraries in
Northrine-Westfalia.

- Third, i have a problem with the bulk-import of MARC21XML-Records to
Koha and i hope, someone can give me a little hint (technical details
of the Koha-installation below):

When i try to import the MARC21XML-File with the bulkmarcimport.pl via
console (following
http://kohageek.blogspot.de/2016/05/bulk-marc-import-using-command-line.html),
i get the following error:

> ..Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
> /usr/share/perl5/MARC/File/XML.pm line 397, chunk 5.
>
> 2 MARC records done in 0.16786003112793 seconds

The 2 MARC records were *not* imported.

The error is occurring with MARC21XML-files created with my own
conversion-script and with files exported from Koha itself.

Any hints for me?

Thank You very much in advance,
Markus

[Koha] Koha metapackage dependencies at Debian

2018-05-25 Thread Narcis Garcia
I'm reading at:
https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Debian
only to install "koha-common" and not talking any word about the use of
other metapackages: koha-deps koha-elasticsearch koha-perldeps

Are those other recommended to not forget anything?

Thanks.
