Re: [Koha] Worldcat's xISBN Web service, down?

2018-08-14 Thread Bryan Baldus
The OCLC Developer Network website has a posting about this [1]:

As a follow up to our March
2016
announcement
 to
continue to offer Identifier Services (xID) without any changes to the
services or data, OCLC has made the official decision to retire all xID
services on 1 July 2018.  These services no longer comply with OCLC’s
heightened security standards and users continue to experience
diminishing value as supporting data becomes further and further out of
date. This means that users will need to take action to remove the
following web services from all applications:
*   xISBN
*   xISSN
*   xOCLCnum

At this time, we are not aware of alternative services to consider but
want to provide users with as much notice as possible, so they can
conduct research and make plans to remove these xID services prior to
their retirement on 1 July 2018. If you have any questions or concerns,
please contact Tony Chirakos.

I hope this helps,

Bryan Baldus

They impose some quotas on requests per day. Maybe UNC's node (traffic is
proxy-ed) is to blame.

[Koha] Worldcat's xISBN Web service, down?

2018-08-14 Thread Jonathan Druart
Hello,

We have a test failing because of the xISBN service that is not reachable (
http://xisbn.worldcat.org)
Anybody has info about it?
Should we remove it from Koha? Is it temporary?

Their website does not tell anything about it
https://www.worldcat.org/affiliate/webservices/xisbn/app.jsp

Please let me know in order to adjust or remove the code.

[Koha] Duplicate ISBN report modification

2018-08-14 Thread Cab Vinton
Hi, All --

We're using the following report to identify records w/ duplicate ISBNs.

SELECT GROUP_CONCAT(b.biblionumber SEPARATOR ', ') AS biblionumbers,
b.title, b.author, GROUP_CONCAT(i.isbn SEPARATOR ', ') AS isbns
FROM biblio b
LEFT JOIN biblioitems i ON (i.biblionumber=b.biblionumber)
GROUP BY CONCAT(substr(b.title,0,9),"/",i.isbn)
HAVING COUNT(CONCAT(substr(b.title,0,9),"/",i.isbn))>1

We're a coop, however, so it would be helpful to limit the results to
cases where our particular library owns at least one of the associated
items.

Adding the following lines did not provide correct results, unfortunately:

LEFT JOIN items m ON (m.biblionumber=b.biblionumber)
WHERE m.homebranch = <>

I suspect a subquery may be required, but it's beyond my current
proficiency w/ MySQL :-(

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

All best,

Cab Vinton, Director
Plaistow Public Library
Plaistow, NH

If you want to see where the actual mapping between marc tags and zebra
index definitions occurs, take a look at the *-koha-indexdefs.xml files.

./normarc/biblios/biblio-koha-indexdefs.xml
./marc21/authorities/authority-koha-indexdefs.xml
./marc21/biblios/biblio-koha-indexdefs.xml
./unimarc/authorities/authority-koha-indexdefs.xml
./unimarc/biblios/biblio-koha-indexdefs.xml

Here's a snippit of biblio-koha-indexdefs.xml for marc21 -- 245$a has the
zebra indexes Title-cover:w, Title-cover:p, Title-cover:s, Title:w
and Title:p.

The part after the colon is the index type - w for 'word', p for 'phrase'
and ... I'm not sure what s is (my guess is 'exact *S*tring').

Title-cover:w
Title-cover:p
Title-cover:s
Title:w
Title:p

Author:w
Author-in-order:w
Author-in-order:p
Author-in-order:s

(Here's a link to that file in the koha git repository:
http://git.koha-community.org/gitweb/?p=koha.git;a=blob;f=etc/zebradb/marc_defs/marc21/biblios/biblio-koha-indexdefs.xml;h=b3b12a0e2b12239c35a671325407a73e5db364e9;hb=HEAD
)

That's only half of the story, because Koha doesn't use the raw zebra
indexes... it actually uses the ccl.properties file for the indexes that
you see in the url... for instance, here's the entry in ccl.properties for
'author':

Author 1=1003 s=pw
au Author

The first line has the zebra index definition as well as the bib-1
attribute (used in z39.50). The second line is creating the alias 'au' for
Author.

so, when you look at the url for an author search, you'll see something
like idx=au,phr

... to trace that back to the indexdefs, you would look up "au" and "phr"
in ccl.properties, find the zebra index name there, and then back up to
the indexdefs.xml file.

That's not the whole story, but it's enough for most cases.
