[Koha] Education meeting date poll

2019-06-05 Thread Caroline Cyr-La-Rose

Hello everyone!

During this morning's General meeting
(https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/General_IRC_meeting_5_June_2019),
a meeting for educators/trainers to exchange ideas, best practices,
materials and other experiences was proposed. This meeting would be for
all community members who have a hand in training new Koha users, or in
continuing education for current Koha users, and who are interested in
sharing experiences with colleagues. (Note that this is not a training
meeting, but a meeting for educators.) If you would like to attend the
very first meeting, please fill in the date poll available here :
https://framadate.org/Y2p9c5PVIXuOP8Kg

The meeting will be held by video conference. So far, NEKLS and ByWater
Solutions have both offered to host the first meeting using Zoom. George
and Donna, can you insert your room's availability as a "person" in the
poll? I will make sure one of the rooms can attend when deciding the date :)

The poll closes on June 12. So answer as soon as possible. I will send
the details and agenda on the list when a date is picked.

Thank you everyone!

Not so grand! This means the user it is trying to create to grant database
privileges is already there, and it won´t continue. You should first make sure
everything is clean of your previous attempts, or it will not proceed.

You should check mysql, and drop the user and the database if they exist before
running that command again.

koha-remove can help you remove a previous installation attempt.

Re: [Koha] [EXTERNAL] batching imported records viaz39.50

A couple of weeks ago, Library and Archives Canada turned off their
Z39-50 service AMICUS which we have been using via Koha for many years.
They have written to us -- CaOPIACS, which they issued -- that, as
Heather says above, we have to pay for "a full cataloging subscription
to OCLC". The quote from OCLC is several thousands of dollars. As a
Canadian charity we are adversely impacted [1].

Might I prevail upon all Koha users (and potential users) on this list
to let me know:

- if they used to use AMICUS Z39-50 for Canadian titles
- if they are commercial subscribers to OCLC
	- if they have feelings/comments about a national library outsourcing
to a foreign commercial corporation

List replies would be appreciated, as Z39-50 is one of Koha's strengths.
Off-list replies to paul.a at navalmarinearchive.com would, gratefully,
be held in confidence.

With my sincerest thanks,

[1] This affects the speed and accuracy of our [mostly volunteer] biblio
cataloguing of Canadian titles (although LoC, via their "copycat"
service are sometimes of great help.) It also puts our Koha catalog
potentially "out of sync" with our national authority; ~20% of our
holdings are of Canadian publishing origins.

Sorry but this did not help. I typed in the terminal

$ sudo koha-remove mylibrary

The report was

ERROR 1133 (28000) at line 1: Can’t find any matching row in the user table

Any other suggestions?

Hope all are well and all is well.
