I think the index does not write any file due to this error. That’s why the

[Koha] Regarding marc framework - extra subfields

2019-06-13 Thread Suresh Kumar Tejomurtula
Hi,

Having a query related to marc framework. Currently we are using 16.05(This
is old version, but due to unavailability of internet we had to use this).

For our serial control, I added few extra subfields in marc framework for
952 tag and they are added to "more_subfields_xml" coloumn in the items
table.

Now when I tried to import this sql database(16.05) to koha version
17.11.11, indexing is not working.

After deleting the coloumn data of more_subfields_xml in the items table,
indexing is working without any problem.
Is this a normal behavior or any issue.

Please guide me if any possibility is there to import the data into 17.11
without having to delete the data in more_subfields_xml in items table.

In one of your earlier e-mails you wrote "that somebody introduced some
frameworks that do not include the field '000 - Record Label'." Maybe
because of this (and maybe other reasons) your records are not
conforming to MARC 21 and thus not indexable.

Is it possible to show the MARCXML of one or more of your bibliographic
records? For example in Koha 18.11 you will find it in field "metadata"
of table "biblio_metadata". I would then try to import your MARCXML in
my demo installation and see if it is correctly indexed. Like this we
could find out if the error has its cause in the record or in the
indexing process.

Best wishes: Michael

2019-06-13 Thread Suresh Kumar Tejomurtula
Hi,

I did not added any subfields in the new koha database. As I thought
dropping database is enough and followed the below steps.

I imported by dropping koha database creating database and imported this
SQL database and then used upgrade command and then ran indexing. Indexing
did not worked.

Then I deleted the data in the particular coloumn and ran indexing. It
worked.

[Koha] Update OS vs Update Koha

2019-06-13 Thread Coehoorn, Joel
First, some background.

We currently have a Koha server running 17.05. This server has been updated
in place since sometime in 2012 or 2013, going back at least to version
3.04. For a variety of reasons, it's time to start over with our Koha
install.

To that end, I had setup a new Ubuntu 18.04 server and installed Koha 18.11
via the packages. Going forward, I hope to not fall two years behind again,
but during the re-implementation phase we did not want to do and updates.

Today I ran "apt upgrade" on the Ubuntu server console, and to my surprise
watched the new server update koha-common to 19.05. My prior experience is
this does **not** normally update the koha-common packages. Instead, I
would need to change the sources or do a dist-upgrade.

What did I miss here? In the future, how can I update the OS without
updating the Koha application? I want to be able to install linux, apache,
etc security updates during an academic term, and be able to save the koha
application updates for between terms, when have down-time for review and
staff training.

[Koha] Introduction to the Koha Community

2019-06-13 Thread RAGHAV ARORA
Hello everyone,

I am Raghav Arora, a 3rd year undergrad student from India. I am currently
working on a project on Reports Management and Decision Support System for
my institute library that uses Koha as it's ILS. While working on the
project, I am having certain doubts on the relationships between various
tables in the koha database schema, and the purpose of some of the fields.

I am joining the koha-devel mailing list as well, to understand the
technical details of the database.

Of the many doubts that I have, I do not understand the difference between
the tables reserves and old_reserves. If I need to get a list of all the
holds, for which the books are currently not available in the library,
which table would I refer to?

Re: [Koha] Cannot find records created in KoHa

2019-06-13 Thread Katrin Fischer

Hi Patric,

I think the line below gives the right cue: You are missing the
biblionumber in one or more of your records.

This problem probably comes from your changes frameworks and the records
created using them. If you are using Koha with MARC21, Koha expects you
to have a 999 $c and $d for storing the biblionumber and
biblioitemnumber. These fields and subfields should not be changed from
the default configuration in the frameworks, as it can break things
badly. When you look at your existing records, are 990 $c $d correctly set?

Hope this helps,

Katrin

Hi Mauricio,

which is the exact version of 18.05 you are using? You can find the
exact version on the about page.

The column format in biblio_metadata was renamed to schema with bug
22155, but that should only appear in 19.05. - So this is a bit strange
here.

Did it work before? Did you recently update?

Hi Joel,

I am not a system administrator, so others might be able to give more
information. But I thought this page might be helpful:

https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Debian#Set_up_package_sources

I think following a codename (version number) will prevent the big
updates from happening. If you also don't want to have monthly updates,
you might have to do something else. I know it's possible.

Hope it helps,

via the packages.

Re: [Koha] Update OS vs Update Koha

2019-06-13 Thread Bob Birchall
Hi Joel,
After upgrading, put koha-common on hold. Before your next upgrade, remove
the hold.

(look for the Apt heading).
