Re: [Koha] [Koha-devel] How to apply Lending Restrictions

2022-04-21 Thread Ms. Naveen Ali
Dear Michael,

Thanks a lot for the detailed response. You are right, the staff can be
instructed. Also anomalies can be identified through reports.

Another thing, I am confused in two global system parameters. If I set,

CircControl to "the item the library is from" which would be the home branch or
permanent library
and
HomeOrHoldingBranch to "Holding Branch", wouldn't that create conflict.

What is the difference in the two?

I'm not aware of a way to limit the scope of Independent Branches at this
point.
And Independent Branches is the only way to restrict the Set Library option.
It comes down to either instructing and trusting your staff to not use the Set
Library option, or making a local code change (easiest would probably be to
remove the Set Library option from
koha-tmp/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/includes/header.inc and circ/ set-library.pl ).

I've heard that some want to drop Independent Branches in favor of additional
library group types, which would be more flexible and may facilitate what you
are trying to accomplish, but I don't know where the work to that end is at.

2. If I don't use Independent Branch, Is there a permission to restrict the

It may be a bit drastic, but if this is the only library on this Koha system
you could try turning each section into a branch and turning on independent
branches.
Separate branches would allow for different rules without drastically
increasing the number of item types, and staff would be at a certain branch.
Turning on independent branches would effectively restrict them to their
section. You could even hold the independent branches setting for a bit to see
if it works to have each section as a separate branch.

Dear members,

I would like to put forward the following scenario.

Our library has three sections where books are loaned and they each have
different policies. All library members have access to all sections.

I would like to implement the library policy where

1. staff of one section can issue books of that section only
2. books should also be returned to the same section.
There is no general rule; just specific rules for each section.

This is what I am doing.

I have provided Permanent Library of all book items as the main library name
and the Current Library as the section library.

I am trying to use the following global parameters to implement our library
policies, but am not successful.

* AllowReturnToBranch

Allow items to be checked in "Only at the item the library is from" (I
understand this to be the current library)

* AutomaticItemReturn

Don't automatically transfer items to their home library when they are checked
in. (I understand the home library to be the permanent library)

* CircControl Use the calendar and circulation rules of "the library the
item is from" (I understand this to be the current library)

* HomeOrHoldingBranch

Use the checkout and fines rules of " the items holding library" (I understand
holding library = current library and home library = permanent library)

*It seems that CircControl and HomeOrHoldingBranch paramter are same.

I also can't find how to restrict a library staff member from Setting his
library to any that he wants by using the "Set Library" Option available.
Also how to prevent staff from issuing books belonging to other libraries.

Re: [Koha] On-site check out report

2022-04-21 Thread Katrin Fischer

Hi Victoria,

I am not sure if you have received any replies yet, but maybe I can help
to get you a step further.

On-site checkouts are recorded in issues and old_issues with a 1 in the
column onsite_checkout.

I believe you can't use statistics or action_logs for reporting here as
you can't distinguish normal and on-site checkouts there.

Hope this helps,

Katrin

Re: [Koha] 5XX Fields Paired with 880 Fields

2022-04-21 Thread Katrin Fischer

Hi Charles,

Koha has some ability to display 880 fields, but it doesn't look at the
links. Display is also currently not implemented for all MARC fields. If
you are missing a specific one, you could file an enhancement request
for it or take a look at modifying the XSLT files, there is some good
880 examples there that should be relatively easy to copy for other fields.

That said, I believe your 880$6 should possibly have the field it links
to instead of starting with 880? See:
https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd880.html

Hope this helps,

Katrin

Hello again, all!

I have observed that the 880 alternate graphical representation field

that is paired with a 5XX field is not always displayed in Koha. Example:

504 \\$aComputer document (3.1 MB). Konpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB). コンピューター文書
(3.1 MB).
504 \\$6880-54$aKonpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB).
880 \\$6880-54$aコンピューター文書 (3.1 MB).

In order to make everything appear, I've had to combine the 5XX fields
with their paired 880 field into one. Taking the above for an example, we
have to recode the above with something like

504 \\$aComputer document (3.1 MB). Konpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB). コンピューター文書
(3.1 MB).

Is this the expected behavior in Koha or shall I file a bug report?

My mistake. I forgot to delete some of the first 504 statement. The
statement ought to read thus:

504 \\ ‡a Computer document (3.1 MB).
504 \\ ‡6 880-54 ‡a Konpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB).
880 \\ ‡6 880-54 ‡a コンピューター文書 (3.1 MB).

The effort to recode so that the Japanese is readable still thus:

504 \\ ‡a Computer document (3.1 MB). Konpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB). コンピューター文書
(3.1 MB).

My question remains whether Koha recognizes a 5XX field paired with a
880 field.

 My apologies. Thanks, all!

No - all the four options there only work if MARC 952$c is linked with
the category of authorized values "LOC".

In the case of option "on a separate column" it doesn't even show an
empty column but just no new column at all.

You should go to sconfiguring and hide or show columns for tables in

Hi,

I have finally installed Koha 21.11.04 on AlmaLinux 8 and I was able to
start the Web Installer.

Everything seems to be working fine.

However, when I get to the creation of the "Koha Administrator Patron" (in

this error message: "The patron has not been created! Cardnumber or Userid
may already exist." and I cannot proceed with the Web Installer.

Does anyone have an idea what can cause this issue?

Thanks and have a nice day!

2022-04-21 Thread vinod kumar
Hi Fridolin,

Sorry, it will take a long time to get back to you. Actually, I was busy
with other work.

The file which you shared with me is working fine in my case also. So a big
thanks to you for this.

[Koha] How to show MARC 952$c in the Koha OPAC

2022-04-21 Thread Michael Kuhn

Hi

In our library we are using Koha 21.11.02. We want to show the content
of MARC 952$c (shelving location code) in the OPAC.

The content of MARC 952$c is only shown if MARC 952$c is linked to
category of authorized values "LOC". In this case the content of MARC
952$c is shown in the item data field "current library" in both OPAC and
staff client.

In our library MARC 952$c is not linked to a category of authorized
values and the content of MARC 952$c is only shown in the staff client,
but not in the OPAC.

Does anyone know how to make it visible?

Best wishes: Michael

Re: [Koha] [Koha-devel] How to apply Lending Restrictions

2022-04-21 Thread Ms. Naveen Ali
Dear Vikram & Michael,

I tried out this option.

1. Independent Branches does restrict staff and items to library, but also
restricts patrons. My patrons can share and access all libraries. Is there a
way to overcome this. I tried library groups but independent branch supersedes.
2. If I don't use Independent Branch, Is there a permission to restrict the
Set Library Option?

With thanks and best regards,

* AllowReturnToBranch

Allow items to be checked in "Only at the item the library is from" (I
understand this to be the current library)

* AutomaticItemReturn

Don't automatically transfer items to their home library when they are checked
in. (I understand the home library to be the permanent library)

* CircControl Use the calendar and circulation rules of "the library the
item is from" (I understand this to be the current library)

* HomeOrHoldingBranch
