Subject: [Koha] OT: Good kiosk option for OPACs

Hey, all. I've tried several Linux and Windows based kiosk options, with little
luck. They all seem to do one quirky thing or another and end up frustrating
staff and patrons.

Could someone suggest a good kiosk setup or install that works well with the
Koha OPAC interface, please?

Thanks much in advance!

Re: [Koha] Default screen when logged in to opac account

2017-10-17 Thread DeMuth, Jennifer
I have created a separate login button in the OPAC header that points directly
to the opac-user.pl page. I hide the two default login spots for multiple
reasons but mostly to accomplish what you are looking for.

Here is our catalog: https://library.roseville.ca.us/

Subject: [Koha] Default screen when logged in to opac account

Hello,

When our patrons login to their account in the opac they are brought to our
opac homepage, i.e. the search screen. In order to see their summary/checkouts
they need to click on their name on the top right-hand side of the screen. This
is causing confusion as they often don't know to click on their name.

Is there any way to force the screen to go to their summary/checkouts as soon
as they log in?

Thank you,

Re: [Koha] Comment Needed: Renewing of Lost items

2014-07-30 Thread DeMuth, Jennifer
Hi,

We have seen this happen here in Roseville. I think preventing the ability to
renew a lost item would be great, I know we would love that here, but maybe a
system preference would be best for those who would like to still renew them.

Thanks,

Subject: [Koha] Comment Needed: Renewing of Lost items

Attention Librarians!

We need some input for dealing with Bug 9805 - Lost items are un-lost if
returned, but not if renewed.

http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=9805

The issue is that renewing a lost item does not mark it as found. I filed a
patch to correct the issue, but there are concerns about patrons being able to
'un-lose' items by renewing from the OPAC.

We have two proposed solutions solutions:
1) Prevent the renewing of lost items
2) Make renewing a lost item marking it as found controlled by a system
preference

I submitted a patch for the latter solution, but after some thought I and some
other developers think the former solution would be best. What do you all think?

Christopher Brannon made this comment on the bug report:

I like this idea too! Here's my take:

The advantage to this method is that the feedback is visible even for patrons
with lost of information in the messages column:
