Re: [Koha] Drupal Koha Libraries

2015-07-16 Thread Tim Hannah
Should say that one reason I don't understand the jiggery-pokery is that we
rely heavily on Catalyst IT here in Wellington who have a nice Drupal team as
well as being pretty damn fine at Koha. Together they found (and find) ways to
make everything we asked for work, I'm not sure how.

Hi Rebecca

Looks good, congrats. We seem to have close to exactly the same setup - Koha,
Drupal, EDS, ezproxy.

https://library.education.govt.nz - though you won't get much out of that as
the site requires login (I know, I know...).

Major things we're doing which involve both Drupal and Koha are

1) Using drupal module ILS authentication and some extra jiggery-pokery that's
beyond my ken to tie Koha and Drupal authentication and users together (same
logins, login in one system automatically logs into the other, Koha
borrower.categorycodes are mapped to Drupal roles which allows differentiation
of content of drupal site for different groups of users).

2) Drupal asks Koha to run a report nightly (basic data for new/selected
records - title, abstract, subjects terms, url etc) and creates nodes from the
results which are presented as new resources in the website and are emailed out
by Drupal to borrowers who have signed up for alerts in various subject areas.

We also used Ebsco's 'Build a search box' to give users access to EDS, and
still have a Koha search option alongside. Our ezproxy uses Koha to
Authenticate users as well so same username/password for users without us
having to think about it (not sure how yours is configured).

Feel free to get in touch

Cheers

Mercyhurst University has just launched our new library website! We are now
using Drupal, so I wanted to reach out to other Koha/Drupal libraries.
http://library.mercyhurst.edu/

We use Ebsco's EDS and integrated our catalog search using their 'Build a
search box' code (http://support.ebscohost.com/eit/sbb.php).

What features are you using on your Koha/Drupal site?

[Koha] Limiting (refining) ccl searches by availability

2013-11-12 Thread Tim Hannah
Koha 3.12.02

Is there a way to limit (or refine) a ccl search by item availability?

It seems to me that refining the results of a ccl search by attempting to limit
to currently available items is treated like an added 'and kw,wrdl=available'
parameter. Which gives unexpected results.

Am I right? Is there a way of limiting a ccl search to currently available
items?

Cheers

[Koha] Why are our borrowers being restricted?

2012-08-13 Thread Tim Hannah
On koha 3.6.4 borrowers with overdues are being restricted. We don't want them
to be restricted.

Restrictions are put in place about 5 minutes before emailed overdue notices
are received, so guessing it's the same process.

Overdue notice/status triggers Restrict column is unchecked.
Preference OversBlockCirc is set to Don't block
All fines are set to 0.00, MaxFine is set to 0.00. Maxoutstanding and
Noissuescharge is set to 100.00.

Anyone see any obvious preferences we may have missed that could be causing
this?

Cheers

Ah, I feel slightly silly, but better for having asked.

Thanks Jared, (and Katrin Chris). It's obvious, when you look at it right.

It's not exactly obvious, but could you check the Overdue notice/status
triggers again, and make sure that you either don't have overdue triggers
for any libraries other than the default library, or that *none* of them
 have the Restrict box checked?

Also, when you say restricted, what is the exact message you are getting
when you go to check out books to this patron? (or, if you are noticing the
restriction in another context, where exactly do you notice the
 restrictions)

Ah ha!

Thank you Jared!

Tim, if you go to Overdue notice/status triggers and switch the
library drop down from All, to Ministry of Education.

I bet you have restrict switched on there.
