[Koha] Checkout Book appearing in ascending order of issued date

2014-10-30 Thread amutsikiwa

Hi

I am running Koha 3.16.4. In the circulation module, on the patron record,
checked out books are appearing in ascending order of issued date from the
oldest to the current. My users want them to appear in descending order so
that the latest borrowed books appear on the top. How do I go about
achieving that.

[Koha] hourly loans doesn't know when library closed

2014-08-08 Thread amutsikiwa
Hi

Hope I find you well. I know I should be posting to the list, but I am a
little bit on the desperate side. I am running Koha 3.16.02 and I am
trying to enable Koha to have opening and closing time functionality and
have been following the thread
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?bugid=8133
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?bugid=8133action=v
iewallhide_obsolete=1 action=viewallhide_obsolete=1 . According to the
thread, as you indicated, the test plan involve

1) Apply patch.
2) Update database.
3) Verify that the calendar administration interface still exists and
   works as expected.
4) Run t/Calendar.t and t/db_dependent/Calendar.t

I have applied the patch. I have manually created the openinghours table and
populated it accordingly. However, the previous calendar administration is
not showing. I have installed Template::Plugin::JavaScript. I have run the
t/Calender.t usingperl /usr/local/koha-3.16.02/t/Calendar.t and is

Hi,

I am not sure if someone is planning to implement the full specification as
written on the wiki, but there is some work in progress on taking opening
hours of the library into account:

[Koha] Configuring reserve books for overnight borrowing

I have reserve books that are loaned to patrons for 2 hours before 15:00 ,

[Koha] ***UNCHECKED*** Item types whose location close earlier than the main Library

2014-05-17 Thread amutsikiwa
Hi

I welcomed the introduction of the hours unit in the circulation and fine
rules configuration. I have been using a commercial library system that
enables reserve books to be borrowed for internal use for two hours from
09:00 to 15:00 Monday to Thursday, after which they are borrowed for
overnight use, which means the books become due the following morning before
09:00. However, the Library closes at midnight. On Friday, reserve books
are borrowed for weekend use from 10:00 and become due on Monday. I am now
almost through with my migration to Koha. However, I do not know how I can
configure my reserve books loan rules so that they behave as explained..

May be the introduction of opening time and closing time for item types so
that in the calculation of due dates, as with the calendar tool, will not
fall due when that particular item type (for example reserve books) is
deemed to be closed for circulation, could be the solution going into the
future. This could be a future functionality request. However, in the
meantime, I will appreciate any pointers on how I can configure the reserve
books loan rules so that they behave as explained.

[Koha] Where are subject headings ( field 650$a) stored in in Koha database

2014-04-14 Thread amutsikiwa
Hi

I imported close to 87000 items. I think I miss-align the subject column
during data migration from liberty 3 to Koha, so the subjects are out of
place. I would like to correct the error. I am interested in establishing
which table in Koha holds subject headings and which field in particular.

I will appreciate any pointers.

[Koha] clarification on Zebra configuration

2013-04-24 Thread amutsikiwa
Hi All,

On my server, I have zebra configured as a demon via the symbolic link

/etc/init.d/zebra-server - /usr/share/koha/bin/koha-zebra-ctl.sh

   And

/etc/init.d/zebraqueue-daemon - /usr/share/koha/bin/koha-zebraqueue-ctl.sh

And I also have it scheduled to run as a cron job via Linux Koha user's cron
file as shown

-v 2/dev/null

0 1 * * * /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -r -v
2/dev/null

My question is can the two be configured to run concurrently or they will
conflict. If conflicting, which one is superior and recommended?

Admire,

When you run the indexing manually, does the number of records index tally
with the number you expect?

If it does, it may be that the framework you use to catalogue may not be
properly configured. I recently discover that if I do not have data in
942$c, then those records will not show up in search results, though as you
said, they are found by barcode.

My two cents.

Hello Admire,

I have imported a records from an Excel file to Koha. My? major
challenge now is that call numbers are appearing on bib records but not
on item records. I am aware there is a settings that you have to setup
for the item records to pick the call number form bib.? I will appreciate
any hint.

If you imported from Excel, then you should have made sure that your call
number is mapped to 952$o. Then your call number will appear on item
records. if you used Marcedit for translating your Excel file to MARC, this
should be easy.

However if you were doing copy cataloging and you wanted the call number to
show up in items, then you should set the itemcallnumber under the
cataloging system preference.

For example if you were using LC then you would enter 050ab into the
itemcallnumber field. You can check
http://manual.koha-community.org/3.10/en/administration.html#catprefs for
more info.

I am not sure setting the itemcallnumber will work for imported data. Others
may be able to confirm. I usually populate the field while converting data
using MarcEdit.

Hope this helps.

[Koha] Importing Records- Items records not displaying

2012-01-12 Thread amutsikiwa

Hi

I have imported records from an excel file and got the following summary
results:

Stage MARC Records For Import

MARC Staging results :

* 59514 records in file

* 0 records not staged because of MARC error

* 59514 records staged

* Did not check for matches with existing records in catalog

* 406248 item records found and staged

I went on to import the records. I then rebuild the index by running:

/usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -w -v

However, when I search for a particular item, I only find it in Biblios in
reservoir . When I search the item table, there are over 40 000 records.

What should I do to see the item records?

 Hi,

I'm in the middle of my first Koha install. I'm running on CentOS 5.7 with
perl 5.8.8. The Koha INSTALL file says 'You need to have a server running
 perl 5.8.8 or later',

but 'make test' is failing due to perl 5.10-isms (eg C4/Search.pm line 497
 'unless ( $data ~~ @used_datas )'.

I believe we actually require 5.10 at this point. The INSTALL files
should be updated to reflect that.

IIRC 3.2.x was the last branch that used 5.8.8.

Kind Regards,
Chris

Hi,

We are moving to Koha and are on a test version
3.05.00.011

Diacritics do not display correctly. R?sum? becomes raesumae ; espa?ol
?becomes espaanol. How does one get diacritics to display properly?

Also being a cataloger I was trying to edit a record that had the bad
diacritics and found that I do not know how to add diacritics to a record.
I am used to a dropdown menu that lists/shows diacritics to insert. How
does one add diacritics to a record?

Thanks,

Re: [Koha] Catalogue statitistics by Catataloguer Name

2011-07-27 Thread amutsikiwa
HI Nicole,
Thanks for the information on the table containing the log information. I have
managed to come up with a quick and dirty solution to my problem. For sharing
purpose so that it can be improved upon, here is the query that show the items
that where catalogue in the current month.

SELECT borrowers.surname, borrowers.firstname, action_logs.timestamp,
action_logs.module, action_logs.action, biblio.title, biblio.author
FROM action_logs, borrowers, biblio
WHERE action_logs.module = 'CATALOGUING'
AND action_logs.user = borrowers.borrowernumber
AND biblio.biblionumber = action_logs.object
AND (
year( action_logs.timestamp ) = YEAR( CURDATE( ) )
)
AND (
month( action_logs.timestamp ) = MONTH( CURDATE( ) )
)

Just wondering if there is somewhere where we can get the database schema for
koha.

Admire Mutsikiwa

Dear Admire,
it's a bit difficult to me to understand your needs.
If the element (the image logo, I presume) requires no margins, you can use
a CSS statement like this one:

#id_of_your_logo {margin: 0 0 0 0};

in OPACUserCSS syspref.
Otherwise send me more info, a screenshot for instance.
