[Koha] SQL - Query Help - Shelving Location

2016-03-30 Thread satishamv
Hi,
My Koha (3.16) has been installed from packages method on ubuntu 12.4 LTS
Desktop.

I have to set huge number of items (various barcode) among many Records into
Shelving location called = Reference Section.

I mean, I have pick specified barcode (item) from each record to a shelving
location called "Reference section". Previously, While entering
bibliographic details, I did not set specific barcode(item) into location
=referece section, and now the items are idenfied, which can be put in
reference as per the library requirements, and now doing manually one by one
will consume huge time, therefore, I request,

Using SQL
how to set following two conditions for the specific barcode (item) having
barcode numbers from "1, 2, 3..to 100" set to:

1) 7- Not for Loan to "Not for Loan" (Previously this field is empty)
2) c-Shelving Location to " Reference section" (Previously this field was
set to shelving location called "General Stock"

Can koha community, please help me to save my time for doing this job using
"sql" ??

thank you in advance,

[Koha] How to use Item Type ?

2016-04-01 Thread satishamv
Hi,

I have a basic question regarding Item Type.
Item Type is required for Circulation Policy settings and Report generation,
etc.

For a Single Bibliographic RECORD (book) having 2 copies (ITEM), Say
example,
Item Type 1 = "Book" meant for Circulation and
Item Type 2 ="Reference Book" meant only for reference purpose and not for
loan/circulation

to satisfy both conditions, either I can create both the item types (Books,
Reference Book) and define a circulation policy -OR-

by creating only one item type = i, e. "Books" and using 9XX, 7 - Not for
loan, can I restrict loan/Circulation (reference).

Which method should be used?? Am I wrong anywhere in understanding Item Type
?

Should I create two "Item type" for a single bibliographic RECORD ?

Kindly Clarify ?

With Thanks

Try to run "a2enmod version" in terminal and It enables and create the file
/etc/apache2/mods-enabled/version.load and then reload/restart Apache

Re: [Koha] Help- Regarding Circulation Rules with Item Types.

2014-12-04 Thread satishamv

Hi,

Unfortunately, I have not received any suggestions for my previous query and
re-posting my question again.

Now, I would like to know, How Book Bank and General stocks are maintained
at least in Indian
Libraries using Koha ? Since, Both Special Category Students and General
Students have stocks and different rules for borrowing books. How are the
books cataloged for these stocks.
Please share your best practices.

Need Suggestions for : New Item Type or New Koha Instance.

Background- Our Library has following scenario :

Patrons: categorized as:
1. Regular (General) Students &
2. Backward Category Students.

Collections:
Two set of collections are maintained,
1. General Stocks - for ALL Students.
(including backward category)

2. Book Bank ( Special Collections ONLY for Backward Category Students)

Circulation Rules:
1. Regular Students can borrow books only from General Stocks but not from
Book Bank.

2. Backward Category Students can barrow books from both General Stocks and
Book Bank
Currently, check-in/check-out is by providing separate backward student id
card along with regular common id card.

My Questions is:
Can above said Circulation criteria be fulfilled either by creating a new
Item Type - "Book Bank" and adding records to it, along with default item
type : Books and then create a circulation rules for both the item types.
OR
New Instance of Koha (separate database) for Book Bank Library to be created
(along with existing one for general stocks)?

At present, I have completed updating bibliorecords for the General Stocks
and used to issue-return books from General Stock (for Regular + Backward
students). But, I am not sure about, proceeding for accommodating only
backward students category for getting books from Book Bank Library through
koha.

Your suggestions are valuable for me and much appreciated.
