And no, I don't think it's backwards to study the code and question how that ever doesn't error! Looking into that key question further, I found the changelog for DateTime.pm suggests only versions = 0.54 allow comparing a DateTime to a string, but koha-common doesn't require any version (interestingly C4::Installer::PerlDependencies::PERL_DEPS says 0.58, so there's arguably a bug there) and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (which is on at least two of the servers I've seen this bug on) only has version 0.52. So there are two obvious fixes: 1. apply this patch; 2. add a libdatetime-perl version requirement to koha-common which effectively excludes Ubuntu 10.04 Long Term Support from them, or would need us to provide packages for it. I think I have managed to fix this.
In the new code:

$filesuffix is being declared as local (with my) twice.
If the second my is deleted, the upload works.

To test, make sure you have both active and inactive funds. Start the process of receiving a shipment. The fund option in the receive shipment form should show only active funds. Bug 8818: make sure we load modules before using them
An eval { eval require $module; }; was replaced with
eval { eval { require $module; }; }; which is a no-op, meaning that
the linker was not getting loaded, and the catalog module was throwing
up a big nasty error every time someone tried to save a record with a
heading. This patch replaces the require with can_load from
Module::Load::Conditional, which is PBP-friendly, and offers equivalent
functionality.

I could not connect on a wired solution but only on a wireless level of ip addressing aforementioned. Only after I disabled the wired level on 192.168.x.x, which I was able to connect to the Koha library at mass-cat site, I was able then to connect through either Firefox or Internet Explorer. This was issue both in Firefox and also Internet Explorer. Every other random site searched and browsed allowed full use. Other base info is that I installed Norton 360 on this PC, same security software on xp pc workstations and no problem for access there. I was able to ping the library catalog database from the cmd per IRC support chat. I did also make sure to allow the Firefox software app instead of leaving on auto, but that did not seem to matter.
