I removed them. I kept only the fields mentionned in Sudoc documentation http://documentation.abes.fr/sudoc/formats/loc/index.htm 916 field is not cited in that page, but it belongs to Sudoc format. I kept also 2 fields specific to Electre in 2013 : 902 niveau de lecture (Electre) 903 indexation (Electre) I also added to the name of the 9XX fields I kept the mention (Sudoc) / (Electre) / (Koha), so it could be easier for librarians to know what is the purpose and the origin of each field I don't make an updatedatabase, because some libraries could still be using these fields for good or bad reasons. In fact there is 2 dates (pos 9-12 and 13-16) and a code in pos 8 giving the type of date. In most case the 1st date should be indexed and not the 2d one. Other issue : Sometimes date are uncertain and if the decade only is known, we will have 198X in 210 field, and "198 " (but I have found 198X and 198. in real word...). Why this status is useful for some libraries ? The use cases are: - to know easily what are the new items (with a simple sql query). - to display an icon in the search results. - issuing rules can be adapt for new items. Automatically (using the cronjob script), the status change (depending the configuration) and the item can be issued, for example. - a RSS/Atom feeds can be created on these new items. Test plan: - log in with a librarian having the tools > items_batchmod permission. - navigate to Home > Tools > Toggle new status - click on the edit button - there are 3 "blocks": * duration: the duration during an item is considered as new. * conditions: the status will change only if the conditions are meet. * substitutions: if there is no substitution, no action will be done. You can add some change to apply to the matching items. E.g. ccode=3 new='' If the value is an empty string (in other words, the input does not contain anything), the field will be deleted. You can create as many rules as you want. - test the interface : add/remove rule, conditions, substitutions, submit the form, edit, etc. (There is a looot of JS everywhere, so certainly a looot of bugs...). - when you have your rules defined, you can now launch the cronjob script without any parameter. A report will be displayed with the matching itemnumber and the substitutions to apply. Now each member of the regex is stored into a field in the marc_modification_template_actions sql table. In order to avoid a complex code, only modifiers i and g are take into account. Note: If you already add the mmta table, you have to drop it. This patch also adds a foreign key from mmta to mmt tables. This tool is useful for altering MARC records from various venders work with your MARC framework. The system essentially allows one to create a basic script using actions to Copy, Move, Add, Update and Delete fields. Each action can also have an optional condition to check the value or existance of another field. The Copy & Move actions also support Regular Expressions, which can be used to automatically modify field values during the copy/move. An example would be to strip out the '$' character in field 020$c. Furthermore, the value for an update can include variables that change each time the template is used. Currently, the system supports two variables, __BRANCHCODE__ which is replaced with the branchcode of the library currently using the template, and __CURRENTDATE__ which is replaced with the current date in ISO format ( -MM-DD ). French unimarc frameworks follow this organization :

"Unimarc complet" is said to be made for "conservation libraries"
("bibliothèques de conservation"). It means nothing on administrative and
functionnal point of view. Most conservation libraries in France are public
libraries depending from towns.
On a functional point of view, in France the distinction must made between 2
kind of libraries :
- academic libraries linked to Sudoc network
- other libraries
Sudoc UNIMARC is not exactly the same as standard UNIMARC, especially for 9XX
fields.
So I propose to rename "bibliothèques de conservation" to "bibliothèques du
réseau SUDOC". Everyone will understand in France.
