This will hopefully lead to easier use of sound file uploads in the Audio Alerts system. To test, apply the patch and go to Tools -> Upload. - If necessary, upload a file with the "Allow public downloads" checkbox checked. - Upon upload you should be shown the results of your upload in a table with the file details. - In the "Public" column you should see that "Yes" is a link. - When you hover your mouse over the link you should see a tooltip, "Copy link to this file." - When you click the link the tooltip should say "Link copied to the clipboard." - Verify that the correct link has been copied. - Test uploading a file which is not publicly-accessible. - Confirm that the information in the "Public" column says "No" and is not a link. Some lines have been split up. Some markup issues have been corrected: Removed script "type" attribute, removed obsolete "CDATA" markers, removed obsolete IE-specific conditional comment. To test, apply the patch and go to Tools -> Batch item modification. - Test the process of submitting a barcode file, and item number file, and a list of barcodes. - Confirm that everything works as expected. Use your preferred method for checking the differences between files while ignoring whitespace. I use diff with the "-w" flag, but I've been known to leave my car keys in the refrigerator from time to time. The only changes you see should be split lines. To test: 1) Update database, restart services 2) Set ReservesMaxPickUpDelay syspref (if not already set) 3) Edit your circulation rules and set a value under 'Holds pickup period (day) that is DIFFERENT from ReservesMaxPickUpDelay 4) Place a hold on a biblio 5) Check in an item from that biblio and confirm the hold as waiting 6) Confirm the expiration date is calculated using the 'Holds pickup period' value instead of the ReservesMaxPickUpDelay syspref 7) Revert the waiting status and delete the hold 8) Re-place the hold on the biblio 9) Create a holiday with a date that will overlap with the 'Holds pickup period' 10) Check in an item from that biblio and confirm the hold as waiting 11) Confirm the expiration date is calculated using the 'Holds pickup period' value AND considers the special holiday 12) Confirm tests pass t/db_dependent/Holds/WaitingReserves.t I've also added this to the TalkingTech_itiva_outbound.pl cronjob, I'm not sure how to test this. Please test properly if you can, otherwise maybe put some warns in and confirm the correct expiration date is calculated. Agreed.
It should be forking. Even if we wrapped the processing in an eval{}, we should
still be forking from a memory efficiency perspective.

It will re-use memory once it's freed internally within the Perl program, but any memory allocated to a Perl process will stay allocated by the OS for the life of that process. However, I am wondering if we could consider another approach. It is risky, but might provide more flexibility with editing. This would be particularly helpful to those of us that mistype a code, or create a code, only to realize that sorting in dropdowns is based on order of the code, not the description. What if we added an option to change the code, and the process would A) check related tables to make sure the suggested change doesn't already exist, and B) change all instances of that code in related tables. If there are flaws with this process, or it is too risky, I understand.
