OK, thanks all! I got the webcam working with Yahoo IM on kopete last night. There's a few wibbles with getting the webcam connection going; apparently my friend sometimes sees a warning on her end that I've got an "old" version of Yahoo. If any of you want more info on that, please let me know and I'll be happy to dig out whatever info you need to know. Once I figured out I had to upgrade KDE as a whole to get the latest version of kopete, it made much more sense :-) I couldn't figure out why kopete's latest official release was 0.12.2, mine from Ubuntu was 0.12.3, and ppl were telling me I needed 0.12.4 and I was all where?? WHERE??? I'm sure there's a reason for all that. :-) In any case, *thank you* all for your help. It looks like your particular issue was fixed on Oct 7, 2006 and is bug # 131218 (http://bugs.kde.org/131218) in our bug database. The fix is in KDE 3.5.6. There should be updated packages available for Ubuntu 6.10 on kubuntu.org If you don't feel comfortable upgrading, you could wait for Ubuntu 7.04 to come out. I don't run Ubuntu, so I don't think I'd be able to walk you through an upgrade. I don't know how Yahoo works, but from a network and internet point of view it's highly unlikely that it's a firewall or port issue if the first frame gets through fine. As Matt said, Andre is the Yahoo guy, hope he's available to further continue the discussion. You could also post a bug report on the subject, that eases tracking for us and makes sure nothing gets forgotten later on. I'm using Kopete 0.12.3 (Using KDE 3.5.5) I think there's at least one more (0.12.4) version plus also the KDE, but I'm not sure how to go about upgrading. I've got Ubuntu 6.10, with the KDE stuff overlaid (that is, I pretty much have the full components of both Gnome & KDE). Basically, with one person on a yahoo connection (the connection itself is fine wrt text messages), who sends me a webcam stream, I get the first initial still (no green screen) but nothing more, it never refreshes or streams or whatever the terminology is. If she stops and restarts her webcam, I get a new still. I thought maybe a firewall or something with ports could be the issue, but then I would think I wouldn't even get the still?
