KR> Ivoprop?
There has been a debate on this forum regarding any 3 blade props on ,direct drive, Volkswagen engines. (If I remember correctly)The conclusion was that it is not recommended due to resonance vibration. KR> Ivoprop?
Works well on a Rotax 912 but can not be used on a Volkswagen if it is a 3 blade. -Original Message- From: krnet-bounces+tourinfo=intekom.co...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-bounces+tourinfo=intekom.co...@mylist.net] On Behalf Of dustin Reves Sent: Thursday, May 28, 2009 3:31 AM To: KRNET LIST POST Subject: KR> Ivoprop? Regarding tandem vs side by side design and drag. In the late seventies I was a member of a design group that was a spin off from the local EAA chapter in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. This group of about 30 persons was almost exclusively composed of working engineers in the local aeronautical industry (Lockeed Rocketdyne, Douglas, etc etc) The group decided to hold a contest for a wide bodied design with the grand prize being something like pie and coffee at Dennys. You can see we were big spenders. A major surprise that appeared to many of the engineer designers was the small amount of drag increase with the wide bodies. As a group they had expected large increases of drag as a penalty for the comfort of that extra space where in fact the increased drag was surprisingly little. John Milland

I just happen to have a Long EZ project sitting in my hangar, including plans. The foam and glass priced out at around $3000 and that is what the person who owns it, is asking for it. You can find a VariEze that needs finishing and go to town and finish it. I had one and liked it very much. But the wife did not like sitting behind me. Go figure.
