KR> Canopy latch
Glenn You're right. I have been struggling with how to latch my canopy for several months, discarding three attempts so far. Have you spotted one in particular that you see as a possible candidate? My canopy will open forward like Mark Langford's and Joe Horton's. I'm thinking a latch from a small import as they tend to use a lockable handle or push button style of lock. Maybe a Mazda Miata? Any suggestions gladly welcomed. Thanks for the great idea!!! I'm going to put the latch mechanism on the center of the turtledeck opening and the catch on the canopy frame along with an appropriate handle to pull it closed. I'll build a mall lockable door on the turtledeck by the left rear canopy corner and install latch handle inside the door for opening from the outside (only lock when parked..When flying leave unlocked. In case of an accident it allows a rescue crew emergency access). The inside canopy open handle will be somewhere convenient. I'll go mark this all off with some masking tape and put some pics up on the website for clarity at some point today. -- Glenn Martin KR2 N1333A "Guardian Angel" 13238 Hudson-Krohn Rd. I scribbled some quick drawings on the canopy and turtledeck to illustrate my canopy latch idea using auto trunk latches. It is published on my website if anyone is interested. KR> Need 4" prop ext
Hi everyone, I made a big mistake and have this ext that I purchased and realized its totally wrong, though I purchased it like months back so no getting my money back. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=32020630&l=7f2837ef9b&id=1106895076 Note how big the one on the left is (hole) vs the one on the right: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=32020632&l=f516d17090&id=1106895076 Looking to trade for a 4" with the smaller hole (AN6-) Or if someone wants to buy this one as I need the smaller version. I chose a simple latch from A/S clamp type, and a simple mailbox lock from homedepot to lock from outside Lee Van Dyke Sent from my iPhone On Jan 1, 2011, at 9:21 AM, Pete Klapp wrote: > > Glenn > You're right. Glenn I LIKE IT! Hey that gives me an idea... By the way, were you teaching at Keesler in '84? We may have crossed paths. Drop me a line. I may know some of your old pals... KR> Linear Actuator for elevator trim.
I found this tonight and thought I would share. It is a miniature linear actuator 1.67 in long with an arm that has a little over 3/4 inch travel (20mm). The one with the 100/1 gear has about 7 pounds of force. You can get it with end travel limit switches built in and they all have internal potion feedback. Operating voltage in 6VDC and they sell for $65.00! A control board for precise position control is $40.00 or just use a $6.00 rocker switch for control. This is a lot cheaper than the Ray Allen units. Also the mounting looks easier than using an electric mirror drive. Would this not be about perfect for elevator and aileron trim? There are larger more powerful units if you think you need them. (No, I am not affiliated with them). I'm working on a couture for my seat before I start using the carbon fiber. KR> New old KR Gathering photos
KRnuts, For the few of you that are old enough to remember the last century, I made a discovery this weekend while searching through the basement for old photographs. A while back someone had asked about Don Beachum's retract system. I knew that I had taken some shots of his plane at a KR Gathering in a previous century. Over the holiday break I got the machine from my dad to convert film to digital images and went hunting for the photos of Don's plane. I haven't found those photos yet but I did run across photos from the 1986 Tulsa, OK KR Gathering, the 1988 and 1989 Covington TN KR Gatherings, the 1990 Rough River State Park KY KR Gathering, and the 2001 Pine Bluff AK KR Gatherings. These photos have been uploaded to krgathering.org. They have been added to the links at the bottom of the home page. You can scroll down to the bottom to find them. You will see that there is a note asterisked (*) to these links stating: "Photo quality for these Gatherings (1986 through 2001) are not too good. I found the photos in a box in the basement in 2010 and converted them to digital images from the original film. It might be good enough to jog the memory of some of us old timers about Gatherings gone by." Just in case some of you are wondering, there are only 250 days till the 2011 KR Gathering in Mount Vernon, IL on September 9-10, 2011!
