KR> Great American Propeller Company ?

2011-07-21 Thread laser...@juno.com
If you can't find them I'd get on the Yahoo "Propeller Group" and see if
someone locally is willing to do the repair you mentioned earlier.
If that's not viable take a picture or two of it and send them to Ed
Sterba and see if he'll repair it. If it's just tip cracks I'm sure he'd
do it even though it's not one of his.

Here is an interesting link for gap seal tape.

This site may be for modelers, but I think the gap seals are a great idea.

KR> 56 Days

2011-07-21 Thread Mark Jones
Are you kidding me? Only 56 days left till the KR Gathering and only 42 people
are registered to attend with only 13 KR's flying in. Most likely only 12 as
one is registered from Brazil. People, we are celebrating the 39th year of KR
flight. We want YOU to attend. Please register and come and play with us.

KR> Aileron Gap Covers

2011-07-21 Thread Mark Jones
>Dan, I was thinking of a gap seal for the aileron.

Aileron gap seals are very simple to make. You simplg get some mylar wide
enough and long enough to cover the gap and apply it to the bottom of the
wing with 3M double sided tape. Her are the links to where you can buy what
you need. You can paint this Mylar if you wish to. I installed mine in 2005
and have never had them come off.

KR> Wing Gap Covers

2011-07-21 Thread Patrick and Robin Russo
Dan, I was thinking of a gap seal for the aileron. For my latest project I
made a test set of Hor. Stab and elevator, using a piano hinges on the top
surface...which is a flat plane. I did the tapering, 1 7/8 to 5/8 on the
underside. The elevator spar is beveled to allow 25 degrees down play. I do
not anticipate any loss of performance with this save for the less than
desireable gap on the bottom surface, much like the aileron gap. This is
what I want to minimize.

KR> Progress Report & Another Cracked Longeron Story

2011-07-21 Thread Charles Smiith
Are the longerons already glued to the skins? If so, why not just reinforce
the sections in question with 2 or 3 layers of 6 oz fiberglass, wrapping the
glass fibers over the section at a 45 degree angle and onto the skin about an
inch. Cover the longeron in this manner about 6? on each side of the damage.
If you have it, it would help to underlay the glass with some carbon fiber.
