KR> flying stories ?
Where are all the inspirational flying stories - What about the ones that almost stop us from flying again. This is my Engine Failure on takeoff story. 25th August approx 1730 Daylight saving time. Down under. Take off RW 23,( sealed-crop duster strip lot of trees and houses) Full power to about 400 feet about 1 mile from runway, no warning engine stopped dead. Nowhere to go ahead 160dec turn to right to the only open field, tried to start twice, tanks, fuel pump etc, nothing, by now low and fast. Trim, slow down full flap, but running out of intended field. Had to decide to go over or though the fence, went over, around a tree ( not good) then a channel I had to STALL over the irrigation channel, I think the left wing clipped the ground first ( now I was only along for the ride) then flipped to L wing down, and nose wheel and Left main collapse and ground loop to the left and stopped. Someone was looking after me as it did not flip over. What did 007 say ? shaken and VERY stirred. Engine stoppage caused by the Electronic ign. wire inside the distributor rubbed and shorted on the rotor. Damage- nose wheel and one of three prop blades, Left main, 3 x broken bolts and damage to underside of inner wing, the nose wheel folded back but sat under the F/WALL and keep the nose up off the rough ground. What a very strong little aircraft!!! Lessons leant, forget restarting the engine twice and fly the plan, how many times have we heard that Should have done a Mayday call, as if it had of turned over, I could have been in trouble. KR2 flying again. But needs some underside and wingtip paint sometime. Accident reports and inspections done. Thanks joe, I knew it couldn't be as easy as I had hoped for. My question. I have a ifly700. On their website they say " NMEA output support for autopilot, EFIS or other GPS driven device". Is this the siginal that drives the servos or is there more to it than that? I'm sure it can't be that simple. KR> KR-2 Fuse at the EAA Woodworking Workshop
Hi folks, I had a chat yesterday with EAA's Mark Forss. He is the gentleman who coordinates the traveling road show that is EAA's SportAir Workshops. They came to near-by Columbus, Ohio in late October. The timing and proximity could hardly be better so I took in the composites workshop taught by Mark Forss himself. Recently, while looking through KRNet's archives I discovered an article from the Oct. 1975 Sport Aviation about the woodworking workshop at Airventure turning out a KR-2 fuse and most of a horizontal stab by weeks end. I had been wanting to fire off a note of thanks to Mark for such a well done effort on the October workshop when the thought occurred to me that it sure would be nice if a KR-2S fuse build were the focus of a workshop coming back to a future Oshkosh Airventure workshop. Now many of you are probably well past needing something like this, but I'm sure some of us would be greatly benefited and that would be a great way to draw attention to the KR in an audience of likely builders. Mark tells me that there are several woodworking projects being considered for upcoming Osh workshops and though the KR-2S wasn't one of them, he'd see that it was "thrown in the hat". Mark's email addy is mfo...@eaa.org and I bet it would "ramp up the momentum" if others among us fired off a note to him supporting the idea. Just a thought. Thanks, Rich
KR> AP in the KR
Guys,I have not gotten the AP fully debugged yet but the insatllation seems to be fine. Mark Langford knowing that I am cheap and lazy has posted a few pictures on a web page he created for me at http://www.krnet.org/krs/jhorton/ The last three pictures on the page. One detail that did not show in the pictures is the CWS button that was added to the left stick. I'll give more information after I finish the flying part of the set up. One thing i know is it is really kick butt to push the 180 button and the plane rolls into a 30 degree left bank and 90 seconds latter I am headed exactly back where i came from at the same exact altitudeMerry Christmas,Joe Horton, Coopersburg, Pa. 53 Year Old Mom Looks 33 The Stunning Results of Her Wrinkle Trick Has Botox Doctors Worried http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4ef1e0d7db1c5e49dcdst05duc
