An important nit to this is that at this stage, this is only a bill that was introduced by two congressmen and written with assistance from the EAA government affairs folks. ?Roughly 2% of all bills introduced actually make it through Congress to become law, so this proposal still has a long and potentially arduous journey. ?Look forward to the EAA orchestrating an email and letter writing blitz on Congress when they are back in session in January. The FAAs antics over the last year or so has left them no longer in the good graces of either party in Congress. They refuse to abide by their own rules and want to usurp Congress by setting up their own taxation without Congressional approval. ?Congress willnot give up that much poer, so will act to smack them down. ?Depending on the level of support through Congress, this may be a ruse to push the FAA into acting on the EAA/AOPA proposal. ?The ball has been in the FAA's court for 2 years with complete indifference and inaction. ?Now that the ball may be taken away from them, I would look for the FAA to suddenly find the AOPA/EAA proposal submitted 2 years ago to get a sudden and vigorous review. ?On the other hand, if this picks up good bi-partisan support, you never know what might happen in politics. It is going to be interesting to watch. -Jeff Scott Los Alamos, NM > - Original Message - > From: Bryce Guenther > Sent: 12/12/13 11:21 AM > To: krnet at list.krnet.org > Subject: KR> (no subject) > > KR pilots" driver license" dream about to come true; > > According to the AVWEB site the US house is voting to allow drivers license > pilots to operate 250 knot, 6 place, 6,000 lb, day VFR. Double check the "day VFR". The EAA and AOPA initial reports I read did not indicate a daytime only restriction. Just VFR. -Original Message- From: KRnet [mailto:krnet-bounces at list.krnet.org] On Behalf Of Bryce Guenther Sent: Thursday, December 12, 2013 10:21 AM To: krnet at list.krnet.org Subject: KR> (no subject) KR pilots" driver license" dream about to come true; According to the AVWEB site the US house is voting to allow drivers license pilots to operate 250 knot, 6 place, 6,000 lb, day VFR.
