Look at the angles of the tubes on a Cassutt mount. The EAA has a video on the subject. KR> Belly board actuators
My actuator is out of a Honda. Right window 1998. Takes about 3 seconds to fully extend and retract. It is powerful to push the airplane up if it hits something on the floor. Trust me. Go to YouTube and search N257DP and you can see how it's mounted. Oh, it cost $30 at the auto wrecker. Mark and those that live in the Land of the Frozen?.. Me too? I have a couple hangar doors one overhead and another bi-fold?. for the ice problem that freezes the door down, I have installed a heat tape like those that are installed around water pipes in the hollow seal at the bottom of the door?. pulled it through with a tape wire and installed the blank end on one end and the controller on the other hooked up to a long drop cord that travels with the door and yet reaches the plug in? electricity usage about like t 30 watt bulb? it has always kept the seal from freezing down? still have to move the snow or ice just outside? a bit difference Mark cause I?m in Iowa not Wisc or Minn? jw Joe. Joe, That's funny because about five years ago I took one of those propane flame throwers and tries to melt the ice. It was an extremely slow process and the metal door got so hot that the paint cooked off and I melted the rubber seal on the bottom. The airport authority was not too happy.
