The plans call for using 8 inches - 16 inches of the wing cord. So forward
point would be 8 inches aft of the wings front edge. Aft would be 16 inches.
This is for the RAF 48 airfoil.
I wonder if the new airfoil would be different

I have had both and the Corvair is more powerful and trouble free than is
the VW, in my opinion.

Also, I am going to a new aircraft with a different engine, so have my
Corvair engine for sale. So, no problem finding one.

Hey Jon, I am new to the net, I have heard a lot about the Corvair engine.

I just bought a KR-1 and a KR-2 both have VW. How does the Corvair compare?

Are Corvair engines hard to find?

I think Larry Flesner will make a pitch for Mount Vernon, and unless
somebody has something considerably better, I'll vote for it, and I'm
the guy that wanted it to move around a bit. But once again, here I am
about to travel to Oregon for a Gathering, and I wouldn't likely have
visited that part of the country without the incentive. I think Mount
Vernon is such a good place, and so centrally located, it's just about
the perfect Gathering location, but I also think it should move around.
Chino was an excellent choice, given it's practically the birthplace
of the KR, and I expect McMinnville to be pretty cool too. But I'd be
fine with going back to Mount Vernon next time around.

It all depends on how the folks at the McMinnville Gathering vote!

By the way, I meant to name this thread "2016", rather than "2017". I
don't even know what year it is anymore...

Most aircraft use 15% to 35% mac. The forward limit is influenced by the
distance to the horizontal and size. The aft limit is not. I think most
go wrong in the mac. The mac for a kr2s is slightly smaller than for a KR2
and the plans are for a kr2. The governing factors are taper and sweep.
You can measure both easily. Something I found interesting with the new
airfoil is that it looks like the sweep is different than what is in the
plans.

Mine kind of fell in my lapin the disassembly stage so technically a
box of pieces fell in my lap. Check out flycorvair.com for the particulars

I had a huge boost of motivation and inspiration on Saturday...so I spent
the day Sunday doing something that has bothered me for some time now. The
standard ww corvair mount just doesn't work on my oddball fuselage...so I
cut the legs off and repositioned them...here it is ready to go to the
welder.
