Thanks Tucker for the picture. The fuel leak I believe is a screw down hose
clamp that possibly vibrated loose on the fuel tank top site gauge hose.

The rest of the story.
Sorry guys I never finished the story.
Bought a new propeller from Ed Sterba, traveled back to Arkansas and installed
it on a Sunday, found out I also had a wheel pants bracket broken so I had to
remove them. Refueled the aircraft and flew it back to my home base in Raymond
Mississippi. No problems.
Been working on other projects since then and have not made it back to my plane.

Made it home but my plane had to stay in Marked Tree, Ark. Made the stop due to
low ceilings south of Memphis.
Small directional incident on landing took me through a small dig between the
runway and taxiway. Only damage was to the propeller. Will need a new one of
those.
The crop dusting business "Marked Tree Flying Service" owner Jerry Teague put
my plane in his hangar and gave me a car to get home. Told me he had all the
tools I would need. AND gave me a clock to make an ornament out my broken prop.
WOW!

Subject: KR> Gathering weight and balance demo

KRnetHeads,

This year I'm volunteering to do a weight and balance demo at the Gathering.?
This stuff is critical, as several KR builders have been killed by aft CG
issues over the years.? This is relatively easy to fix, but you have to know
you have a problem first.? We can start with a 400 pound electronic shipping
scale I'll bring, but we need two more scales.? Two more 400 pounders would
probably suffice for a tri-gear plane, but for a heavy tail-dragger, we really
need two five hundred pounders to get the job done.? Anybody have a 500 pound
(or greater) electronic shipping scale you can bring?? My goal is to have a
demo showing how to perform an accurate weight and balance, using somebody
else's KR.? After that, the guy that owns that plane hangs around to ensure
that the next guy in line does his correctly, and so forth.? We'll need several
tape measures and plumb bobs also (I'll bring two of each).? I've done some
research on 500 pound scales, and if
I were going to buy one (and I still may), I'd likely buy a Siltec PS500 ($170
at http://www.n56ml.com/wb/ .? I weighed mine with a single 400 pound scale,
but that required some jockeying with a bathroom scale and some extra steps to
get there.

I'll also bring an Excel weight and balance file that can be tweaked for each
plane, and saved for the owner.? If there's any interest in this, please let me
know, otherwise I won't bother with it.? Details on weight and balance can be
seen at http://www.n56ml.com/wb/index.html, and the spreadsheet is available
from that site for N56ML.? I recently tweaked it in about 10 minutes for
N891JF, most of which was spent measuring the plane and getting the datum
correct, and will do a full-blown weight and balance on the bird after I'm done
revamping it...but before I fly it.

Well, it can happen to you.

Last night 1730 at 500 ft Engine stopped dead. Lack of landing spots. Had to
make 150' turn to safe ground.

Check, tanks pumps NO start, but engine wind milling. A bit hot and ran out
of field, had to lift over fence, then channel, stall, O S*#T - ground.
Bugger.

Walked away. KR home in my workshop.

Damage,
Prop, nose wheel collapse, L main collapse. Under inner wing whole from
wheel. But main leg undamaged, the main bolts Sheared OFF, as did the nose
wheel to fire wall bolts. NO cowl damage only paint. Engine mount bent.

FOUND the cause this morning, the coil lead came out of the distributor Cap.
No wonder it would not start.
Did I seem Mark Jones make a cover or his dist. cap, Should listen to Mark.

Netters,

I am in the process of acquiring a new (to me) KR2S.  It is currently  at
Bill Clapp's in Valdosta awaiting my learning to fly it (and land it)
comfortably before I think about ferrying it home.  I may be considering
having
do some modifications for me before that happens, so I have some  questions
to pose to the crowd.

It currently has no artificial horizon installed, which I would like  to
have before I do any night flying, as well as no turn & slip.   The previous
owner was considering adding an Enigma EFIS to the panel, but  hadn't gotten
to it yet.  Does anyone out there have any experience with  these?  Good?
Bad? etc.

Thanks,
Todd

To all,  It is with great saddness that I can say that the fellow that crashed
his KR outside of Valdosta was a longtime friend of mine Cary Howard.  I waited
for family permission before releasing his name.  Cary was a great man, quiet
yet energetic.  He did a lot of work for me through the years as an
electritian.  I spent many hours working, talking and flying with him.  He
lived in Florida about an hour away.  Many in the KR group may have met him at
the KR gathering in 06 when he flew with me to Mt. Vernon IL.  He leaves behind
a wife and two grown children...  He will be missed by all who knew him.  He
was a pilot of some time and had flew a variety of aircraft.  The details of
the crash are that he had an apparent electrical fire (thought to come from a
radio install he performed just prior to the flight) and was executing an
emergency landing and clipped a tree.  More details will be handled through the
FAA.   Please put
his family in your prayers.
