KR> AquaVenture Sloshkosh facts and figures
Attendance: 535,000 Decrease of 7 percent from 2009. Total aircraft: More than 10,000 aircraft arriving at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh and other airports in east-central Wisconsin. Total showplanes: 2,380, including 1,106 homebuilt aircraft, 635 vintage airplanes, 374 warbirds, 115 ultralights, 120 seaplanes and 30 rotorcraft. Commercial exhibitors: 777 (up from 750 in 2009) Total estimated campers (fly-in and drive-in camping areas): Estimated at more than 36,000. *Whats ahead in 20*11? AirVenture has been designated a major event by the U.S. Navy for its Centennial of Naval Aviation celebration in 2011. The overwhelming positive response to our inaugural night air show on July 31 also solidifies our plan to do it again next year. We already have ideas to make it even better in 2011.

KR> Surprise! FCC Mandates Prohibition of 121.5 MHz ELTs]
I read this today. Hopefully they will fix this. JUNE 24, 2010 Surprise! FCC Mandates Prohibition of 121.5 MHz ELTs In a report that came out under the radar on June 1, the FCC slipped in a stunning mandate. Section (h) of the executive summary of the report reads "We prohibit the certification, manufacture, importation, sale or continued use of 121.5 MHz emergency locator transmitters (ELTs) other than the Breitling Emergency Watch ELT." Bravo for Breitling, but what about the rest of us? U.S. pilots all know that satellite monitoring of 121.5 signals was discontinued in 2009, but they are still acceptable to the FAA just not the FCC, effective in August. That allows two months' compliance time, and even if every GA aircraft owner took immediate action, it would still be impractical to convert all U.S.-registered aircraft that quickly. The report took the Aircraft Electronics Association by surprise, too. And as AOPA's vice president of regulatory affairs Rob Hackman said, "When two government agencies don't coordinate, GA can suffer." AOPA also proposed that the FCC did not sufficiently understand the implications of its ruling, in part because the agency suggested aircraft operators would "migrate" to the newer 406 MHz ELTs only if the older technology ELTs were rendered illegal to use by FCC fiat. -- Eric Pitts Terre Haute Ind. http://eric.pitts.mystarband.net "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

KR> turbos
Colin you quite right in what you are saying, you can build your engine for a turbo if you think you may add one at a later date. For the corvair about the only change you need to make are good stainless valves, good pistons & total seal rings. Clarks sell the proper cam to use, it is the TB10 cam for use in turbo applications. WW thinks the setup to go with would be the suck through setup, i.e. the turbo sucks the air & fuel mix through the carb into the turbo and out to the manifold. How ever with this setup ( and this is my personnel position ) I would not use an intercooler, because the chance of gas pooling in the cooler. How ever your mileage may very. The diesel engine in my truck has 17:1 compression and will produce 36 lbs of boost, but it is built for it. KR> Home again
Well my plane is back home again after the tornado took our hanger. I swear that plane will log more trailer time than any plane out there. I did not realize how much stuff you can get in a hanger, after just two months. Not sure if I can get it all back in my garage. Bob and I were starting to make some progress on both planes. It was nice being able to bounce ideas off some one before you went ahead and screwed up. Eric Pitts Terre Haute Indiana KR2S http://home.att.net/~e.j.pitts/

Have added a few updates to my web site, hope you enjoy. Eric Pitts Terre Haute Indiana KR2S http://home.att.net/~e.j.pitts/
KR> Bandsaw advice needed
I have this saw and it is not very big. While it works well as a cut off saw,it is awkward to use as a band saw. That being said it has done all that I have needed it to do so far. If you push to hard you end up moving the saw across the floor in the band saw setup. I did use it to cut up my corvair bell housing and it did fine. I have not tried to cut any wood on it yet.
