KR> Gliders' speed
I am surprised of the surprise about 171 mph for a glider. Modern gliders can be that fast. Regards Francesco Montevecchi __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
KR> discouraging
A 20 h of tail dragger flight (both with instructor and solo) on a conventional tail dragger (not the KR2) are a good idea. I did it on a P 19 Scricciolo while building my KR2 I-BUZZ and I had no problem when I flew I-BUZZ from the first time on. The only rule to remember all time is "don't stop being concentrated until the plane runs". Ciao Francesco - Original Message From: KenhendersonTo: KRnet Sent: Sunday, December 10, 2006 9:09:23 PM Subject: RE: KR> discouraging I was happy to see the question asked concerning the amount of tail dragger time needed to fly the KR-2 safely. I am currently building my KR-2 and learning to fly also. I am close to my checkride and upon passing and receiving my license I intend to start building TD time with the head instructor at the HAFB Aero Club in his personal plane. A good friend of mine (the guy that sold me one of my KR-2 kits) recently had the opportunity to fly a KR-2 and told me that in his opinion I should get several hundred hours flying time in conventional geared airplanes before attempting to fly my KR-2. Now my friend started flying in his teens and has been at it for over 40 years so I value his opinion and I know he is not trying to "scare me off" my course. This is my request- Would those of you out there who are flying or have flown the KR-2 series of aircraft tell those of us who are aspiring to be KR-2 pilots how much TD time you had logged before your first KR-2 flight? Realizing that all pilots are not created equal, it would still be useful to know how experienced you all were when you started. What do you think has been my first check after I disassembled my wings? And checks are still under way. Italian FAA must also come and check before I am allowed to repair. Thank you any way. KR> KR2 I-BUZZ
Can anybody help me across the pond? Hallo, my name is Francesco Montevecchi and I am writing from Italy. On october 28th, 2006 immediately after take off I experienced an engine failure and forced to land in a very short ricefield. I landed very close to the end of it and, after the shortest landing in my life, I-BUZZ bumped against a mud bund surrounding the ricefield. She then made a nice somersault and ended the run upside down in the adjacent ricefield, 2 m below. I escaped nearly unscated (the safety belt made a nice job to my ribs), but I-BUZZ was less lucky. Canopy broken, main gear badly damaged plus other smaller damages. I phoned to Rand Robinson to ask for a new canopy and new axle brackets, but unfortunately nobody answered to the phone, to the fax and to an e-mail I found. I have asked EAA and they told me that RR is still on business. So can anybody tell me how to contact RR? In case RR, as I suspect, is no more selling the KR parts, where can I found the axle brackets? Thank you for helping me Francesco Yahoo! You might also try Diehl for your landing gear brackets. Good luck!
