Hello again,

I just wanted to give you an update I have two other KR-2's I am looking at
this up coming week. I am leaning towards two right now. Yours being one of
them. The other one seems to be farther along for a steal of a price, but I
will let you know how things pan out.

Sincerely,

William

Can anyone familiar with the King kt-78A transponder tell me if I'm
supposed to get any kind of indication when I turn the unit on?  Does
the light only come on when it detects a radar signal?  What if I
press the "Ident" button?  I finished the install today and turned it
on while in the hangar and can't tell if it powers on or not.  I
bought it used (yellow tagged) about 10 years ago and today is the
first time it has had power applied.  It's been too long since I've
flown with a transponder and can't remember the operating mode but
I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about this.

You do have a VW engine, right?

If you don't get an answer, I will take a pics of my VW  and
regulator/rectifier that is waiting for a buyer and send them to you.

Photo shows wires out of older diehl case (2 black, 1 red) going
seperate 'synchro' regulatot and rectifier (reg is the closer one to
me)...

2 white wires one from rect, 1 from the black out of the reg) are
connected to nothing (the plane *had* an electrical sys until someone
cut it out)...

How do I get 12v out (which wire) and where do the 2 whites go?

KR> fuel tank

2012-01-09 Thread Margaret Davis
hi guys...it seems to me that if you ran a line off the roll-over vent to the
rear of the plane(out the bottom ) if you put it on its nose the end of the
line is higher than the tank (no loss of fuel) and if it went over on its back
the check valve should work (hopefully no fuel)   brad davis

For some reason I've lost track of what has been posted where, so I apologize
if this is a duplicate.  In my stash of parts, I've found a set of new KR2
wingtips.  These were obtained from RR a long time ago, but they're in original
condition. If you are building or repairing a wing with the original airfoil,
you'll want these.  They are of no value to me, so you can have 'em for the
cost of shipping and handling, $25.00.

PM for pics.

I wrote a reply to this that apparently didn't make it to the the net...

When I built the larger tail for my KR, I built a split elevator with each half
removable. I used a pair of aluminum plates with 8 AN3 bolts to sandwich the
two spar halves with the elevator belcrank attached to the two bolts in the
center. I have somthing on the order of 370 hours on this incarnation of the
elevator. Some info and photos of it are on my web site at
. You'll have to go to the KR page, then drill down to
the tail mods page.

As I have some major rework to do on the fin and sternpost, I was wondering
about dividing the elevator into two halves and using, say, two L shaped metal
pieces bridging the now divided spar so they form a box around the spar and
bolted with two bolts (3/8?) o9n each side. This would make it easy to remove
for maintenance / painting .. Comments would be appreciated. Has this been
done before? Can't find anything in the archives Cheers Martin Pearce

I just converted mine to diehl tri gear.  The bottom of the firewall is 22 1/2"
from the floor.  Nose tire is 3.40-3.00x5.  The center of the prop hub is 37
1/2" from the floor.  There is 4 or 5 inches of verticle tubing on the front of
the strut that could be cut to shorten it.  Hope this helps.
